Paul Wall would like to make grills for Mariah
My friend Rashmi (music journalist) did it again.... She interviewed Paul Wall, we all know his music and grills business, well......
Something I have to ask you is how is your grill business going?
It’s off the chain. We’ve been selling grills like crazy! I just got a call from Chris Rock so I’m going to hook him up. We get calls from all sorts of people all over the world. I gotta get somebody to translate so I know what kind they want.
What kind of grills would you make for someone like Mariah Carey?
Oh man, I’m the biggest fan of Mariah Carey! I would design something petite and classy for her. The popular style at the moment is pink sapphire with rose gold.

Brian-Michael Cox is working with Mariah in Anguilla
Here's what he wrote on his MySpace page:
"So, I move around so much that I don't even know where I live anymore. LOL! Then I get a phone call from one of the biggest female recording artists ever to come way to Anguilla and do some writing for her upcoming LP. Of course I came out here. And of course I can't tell you who she is until the album comes out but nonetheless, my phones don't work and I can't recieve any emails via my blackberry (excuse me, I mean "CRACKBERRY"!) However, God has a way of making a person get some rest whether or not they plan it or not! I came out here thinking that we were going to be working all day and all night, turns out we have only been working at nights. Plus I had a night off! So I have been getting my proper rest on! My mother stays on my bumpers about getting rest. Well, Mrs. Pamela Cox-Stagg would be proud to know that I have been doing just that. This place is so beautiful and because I came out here by myself, I have been able to really put a few things into perspective about my life and not JUST my life but life in general. Although I realize that I probably am a work-a-holic (because I enjoy every second of it), I am starting to see that you must take care of yourself physically, personally, and spiritually. You have to take some time to yourself to build those personal relationships properly. Everything can't be about work, work, work. We are built spiritually. We have souls. We have to feed our souls. This is where my creativity is deeply rooted in. My soul. I understand now why romantic relationships are so important to person's psyche. I used to think I knew what romance was. I was dead ass wrong! LOL. I was dead ass wrong about a lot of things but that is what this trip was really about. It was an awakening of sorts. An awakening of a person I knew long before I was making records and working so desperatly to support myself and my family. Sure, I got a lot of work done. We wrote 4 songs. 4 SMASHES! But I was able to take care of my soul for once..."
Source: Brian-Michael Cox - Larissa by e-mail
Heroes note: If you read it carefully, it can only be Mariah... Biggest female recording artist, Anguilla, working at night and all the notes about work, soul, psyche.... also, Brian-Michael already worked several times with Mariah

No more Mary Carey
The worry of online confusion has even affected celebrities. In December the singer Mariah Carey appealed an application by Mary Carey, the adult entertainer, stripper and 2006 candidate for governor of California, to trademark her name. Mariah Carey, who had previously trademarked her name, contended in the appeal that she had “invested a substantial amount of time, effort and money in promoting the Mariah Carey.”

“Based on the similarities of the parties’ marks and the similarities and related nature of the goods described in the parties’ application and registrations, the public is likely to mistakenly associate the goods offered” by Mary Carey, whose real name is Mary E. Cook, with those from Mariah Carey, the appeal stated. Mariah Carey won the suit, and Mary Carey can no longer be credited as such on DVDs, Web sites and in movies.

Mariah #1 on MSN's Top Ten Biggest Divas, it's all crap....
It seems Ryan Porter from MSN putted together all the false infos and rumors to make Mariah #1 on this list.  All crap!!!!
"- she did fly coach to the set of her indie film Tennessee. On the other hand, she did make sure the stench of commoners didn't ruin the flight by booking out the entire section" - FALSE
- When performing in Toronto, she put the entire show on hold when she spotted a hole in the stage she decsribed as the size of a high-heel point. - TRUE BUT Mariah was joking
- she demanded upon arriving at an English hotel: red carpet and white candles - FALSE, oh soooo FALSE (ask the fans who were there)

Wanna see Benny Medina performing on stage?
Über-manager Benny Medina has done wonders with Mariah Carey's music career, so I'm wondering if he's looking to do the same for Tyra Banks.
Banks and Medina put on quite a show the other night at New York's new Spotlight Live restaurant in Times Square. The two dueted on "Proud Mary."
Okay, it wasn't exactly a music showcase for the two. Spotlight Live is a new eatery in which customers hop on stage and sing karaoke-style.

Lil' L.O.V.E : annoying, tired production of Jermaine Dupri
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - Strength and Loyalty
With rare exceptions - like a melodically punchy coupling with Twista - Strength and Loyalty is burdened by lackluster guest showings. A second stint with Mariah Carey (following the melodious calm of "Breakdown Remix") is especially weak, kept afloat by Carey's ever-bright lark but bogged down by the annoying, tired production of Jermaine Dupri.

Ne-Yo: "Mariah didn't even discuss the drama that she went through, she just went right in with good, quality tracks"
Now that Whitney Houston's divorce from Bobby Brown has been finalized, the songstress is one step closer to her comeback.
Ne-Yo is writing some tracks for Houston, but he wants to avoid songs that scream "My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback," he said. "My contribution is just going to be regular songs. You been through this, you been through that—cool! We feel you on that. But two songs of that is really all you need."
He thinks Ms. Houston should take look at Mariah Carey's comeback for inspiration. "Mariah didn't even discuss the drama that she went through," Ne-Yo said. "She just went right in with good, quality tracks."

Kiss me smell me
Poor Donald Trump. Not only is his reality TV show The Apprentice at the bottom of the ratings, but his signature scent, "Trump, The Fragrance," has been discontinued. It seems his plans for a global beauty franchise have fizzled, despite the high-powered backing of the Estee Lauder Companies.

Yet Trump's fragrance woes haven't dissuaded a handful of celebrities eager to cash in on celebrity perfume. In the next six months you'll see new scents from Usher, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Sarah Jessica Parker, Shania Twain, Paris Hilton, Kate Moss, David Beckham and Christina Aguilera.

So, why are celebrities still lining up to lend their names to fragrances? It's simple: "They get 5% of gross sales," says a former fragrance company CEO, who had several high-profile starlets on his label. "As far as I know, every celebrity gets the same deal," he adds.

That can add up quickly. For example, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and Elizabeth Taylor all sit at the top of the celebrity fragrance pyramid. Each earns approximately $25-million in royalties from their fragrance licensing deals.

Berndt Beetz, CEO of Coty Inc says: We look for artists that are multi-faceted with a strong international fan base, fans are always looking for something new from their favourite artists and really do want fragrances from them."

Companies like Elizabeth Arden are catering to these younger customers by offering brands such as Curious by Britney Spears in smaller, more affordable 30-millilitres bottles.

"What's different from the days of Elizabeth Taylor promoting White Diamonds is that it is no longer absolutely necessary for the celeb to make personal appearances in stores," says Ms. Green. Fragrance companies prefer to trot them out at glitzy fashion and social events, where they can generate major press coverage.

It's all Mariah's fault , go girl !!!!!!!!
Blame the "Butterfly Effect."
Like Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Jessica Simpson before her, Joss Stone has become another victim of the "Butterfly Effect." See, when a promising female artist reaches her third or fourth album, they will invariably announce their latest work showcases the "real them." And sadly, that "reality" falls somewhere south of the third-string bartender at Hogs & Heifers and just north of a Hunt's Point pavement pounder.

"The biggest magazine success story of the last 10 years has been Maxim, and in the Maximization of the music industry, the only way in if you’re a female artist is to show ass,” said Jim DeRogatis, rock critic at the Chicago Sun-Times.

The phenomenon takes its name from the album that spawned it, Mariah Carey's 1997 opus Butterfly. "Fantasy," her 1995 collaboration with Ol' Dirty Bastard, was a peek at things to come, but that album still bore the saccharine-laden "One Sweet Day" and other territorial markings of then-husband Tommy Mottola. One the divorce papers were signed, Carey's inhibitions and clothing disappeared faster than free sandwiches at a sportswriter's convention and the cry went out: Get me a rapper, any rapper. Diddy answered the call and Mariah's turn as a Bond-girl wannabe in the "Honey" video led to bikini car washes, hotpants flag waving at NASCAR races and, most regrettably, Glitter.

“But how long can you really do the coquette thing, especially with Mariah in her 40s?” asks DeRogatis. “But what do you want her to be -- Patti Smith?”

After Mariah, the Butterfly Effect began spreading like the influenza outbreak of 1918. Jessica Simpson abandoned her Christian roots before pimping out her marriage on a reality TV show, "acting" in The Dukes of Hazzard, and ultimately returning to the Carey blueprint with the post-divorce "real me" album Public Affair last year.

The Butterfly Effect cannot be stopped by national boundaries, either -- witness the profound affect it's had on the budding Canadian songbird. Five years ago, Nelly Furtado was a baggy jeaned, white T-shirted Portuguese-Canadian whose rhythmic delivery was more "Like A Bird" then a "Butterfly." Despite disappearing to have a child and releasing a second album that went ignored by much of the world, she seemed well on her way to carving out a inoffensive globalbeat niche for herself.

And now she buys body glitter by the pound, thanks to Timbaland, who turned her out like a proper female artist. Her new album? It's called Loose. The first single? "Promiscuous Girl." How subtle.

“Its for the same reason hair bands made ballads back in the ’80s: their audience was a bunch of beer-drinking wannabe biker boys and they needed something that would get their girlfriends to come to the shows,” says DeRogatis. “With the ‘Butterfly’ artists, they’re making girlish pop, but there’s the added element for the guys. The girls scream and the guys drool.”

Some random news
Yesterday, there was a rumor about Beyoncé heading over to Def Jam and that way becoming a Mariah label mate, there are some other rumors floating around, MediaTakeOut has been told that later this year, Jay Z will announce he's leaving his position at Def Jam to create a new "super label" with Beyonce.

The Rev. Al Sharpton has cancelled plans to honor Island Def Jam CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid, as Hip-Hop music continues to bear the backlash for racist comments made by radio jock, Don Imus. Sharpton was to honor Reid with the James Brown Memorial Cultural Impact Award during the National Action Network's annual four-day convention, which started today (Apr. 18) at the Sheraton in New York. According to Sharpton, he has withdrawn the award for Reid, in the wake of criticism over the content of some rap lyrics. Sharpton said he intends to name and target corporations that support "gutter" rap. Artists under LA Reid's watch include Jay-Z, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Fabolous and others.

Mariah featured again in PETA's Press Release
Wearing nothing but Uncle Sam hats, patriotic panties, and a red-white-and-blue banner reading, "We’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur," a bevy of sexy PETA beauties will collect donated fur coats for the needy in Philadelphia on April 16, the eve of "tax day." PETA reminds prospective donors who no longer want to be associated with the cruelty inherent in every fur coat or collar that their donations are tax-deductible. Many former fur-wearing celebrities have donated coats to PETA, including Kimberley Hefner, Mary Tyler Moore, and Mariah Carey, whose coat will be on display.
For more infos, head over on PETA's site

PETA is also asking the following in their "Action Alerts"
Warning, I couldn't watch the video more than 1 minute, this needs to be stopped!!!!!
Tell 'Material Girl' Madonna That Animals Are Not Ours to Wear
Please tell Madonna that you are disappointed that she would promote the violent and bloody fur industry by wearing a $70,000 chinchilla-fur coat. On fur factory farms, chinchillas are confined to tiny, filth-encrusted wire cages and are killed by having their necks broken or being electrocuted. The animals convulse, shake, and often cry out before they have heart attacks and die. Crude killing methods aren't always effective, and sometimes animals "wake up" while they are being skinned. See for yourself how chinchillas are raised and killed on fur factory farms.
PETA has written to Madonna on several occasions to let her know about the suffering that goes into every fur coat, yet she continues to wear the hides of abused animals.
Please contact Madonna and tell her that promoting the violence of the fur industry is unacceptable:

Belgian magazine "Story" supports Mariah acting again
I had finally a lil' time to read the article published in this weeks Belgian magazine "Story", talking of "Tennessee" and the fact Halle Berry won an Oscar for her acting in "Monster's Ball" from Lee Daniels, they write:
"We need to wait to see if there will be a golden statuette for Mariah.  It's absolutely not unimaginable, 'cause if there's one thing we can remember of Mimi, it's for sure that you never may underestimate her"

Mariah is featured with a pic (the one from Thanksgiving with the lil' girl) and a short article about the adoption rumor.  For once in this kind of  French press, it isn't trash.

SOHH's Soulman praises Mariah
Man of the moment, Ne-Yo, has long been a favorite of the press. We love this dude because he speaks his mind. He recently put Trey Songz in check for charging fans for taking a photo with him and now he is getting at Whitney Houston by saying the songs he's heard from her highly anticipated 'comeback' CD are BORING!

"They all had the one same theme, which was 'My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback,'" Ne-Yo told The Sun.

Ne-Yo was asked to rank the songs by Clive Davis himself. As previously reported on SOHH, Ne-Yo assured us here would pop off some hits for Nippy, but as it turns out... things aren't looking so good.

Soulman says..... Too many chefs in the kitchen seemingly all preparing the same meal. Don't it seem like everyone has written a song for Whitney? If you checked Mariah Carey's 'comeback' cheat sheet, she at least co-wrote her own stuff. If you leave that totally up to someone else how are you ever gonna be able to add in your own flava.

*Mariah Carey fans forgive me for calling it a 'comeback'... she's been here for years.

The good ol' days of Hollywood
The trend of fast-food entertainers has flooded the main stream and has inspired almost everyone to try out to be an upcoming star in the entertainment industry.
Whether it's "American Idol", "America's Next Top Model" or "The White Rapper Show", anybody can bypass the struggles to stardom to live out their "dream."
I miss the good ol' days of Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey or Pink, who had to work their butts off to get to where they are. They can actually call themselves entertainers and not gimmicks.

One more to add to the producers list ....
T.I. is making beats for Mariah
In an interview with Vibe, T.I. reveals he's working on other peoples' records, and he's got a slew of film projects in the works, too. On the music front, he's been helping BG out with his new record. He's been juicing up his producer game, making beats for artists like Mariah Carey, Cassidy, Rick Ross, Young Joc and Young Dro. "Whether they use the beats or not is up to them," he said.

Who's Sundafu?
Yesterday I posted the picture and info that Teresa from HonourMariah sent me a few days ago (I couldn't post it earlier as I was away for a lil' Easter break ), exept being a producer for Angela Via which you can hear on his MySpace, I didn't know exactly who he was.  So, I made a lil' research.
Sundafu is born in Liberia. At the age of 18, he headed to Hollywood and success came quickly for the young singer and songwriter. In 1999, Red Ant Records’ R&B standout Aaron Skyy instantly took notice featuring Sundafu’s song “Why?” on his album “Skyy’s The Limit.” As Sundafu spent time co-producing this album, he realized his deepest passion was producing records.
He's the man behind Foxi Nova and his ability to develop talent made him become one of the hottest new record producers in the music industry.
As you can read on his page, one of his heroes is L.A Reid which probably explains why he will work with Mariah.  He's also a former protégé of Babyface, if you read the news below, it probably also explains why he will work with Mariah.

Singer Maristella trained with Mariah's mom
Local pop singer hits anti-war note
The township may be known for Beatties Dam, Passaic Valley High School and the Mill, but now it boasts another draw: Maristella, a budding international pop artist, also calls it home.
The pixie-haired song-stress just released the single "Read My Bush," which takes aim at the Bush administration's handling of the Iraq war.
"I was against the war from the very beginning," she said. "I feel like our country's been abandoned. It seems like more people are aware and asking questions."
And her lyrics bring her point home: "You think that you're so tough," she sings. "C'mon, give us the truth/we've finally had enough/the traitor here is you."

But political techno-pop isn't this singer's only forte. Trilingual Maristella has written for Laura Pausini, a Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning Italian pop singer, and has participated in the Sanremo Music Festival in Italy as well as the MIDEM music festival in Cannes, France.
Born in Hoboken, the now 30-something Maristella at age 6 convinced her parents to buy her a second-hand piano, and has been hooked on music ever since.
"Mom was a big influence," she said. "We'd listen to show tunes and Italian songs. She had a very open mind about music."

Following a stint at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied classical voice and piano, Maristella trained with Mariah Carey's mother, Patricia, who she said convinced her to begin singing in Italian.
"She said, 'You're Italian, why don't you sing in Italian,'" Maristella said. "She was an influence in helping me pursue my roots."

Can you feel the love....
The Advance-Titan asks UW-Oshkosh professors to put their MP3 player on shuffle and talk about what comes up.  Ben Munson talks to Grace Lim, an adjunct professor in the journalism department at UW-Oshkosh. She moved to Oshkosh in 2002 after working as a staff correspondent at People Magazine’s Miami bureau. She also served as a staff reporter for The Star, The Miami Herald and the Austin American-Statesman.

Mariah Carey, “I’ll Be There”
GL: I like this song. This is before she went crazy or had her breakdown or whatever. I grew up with this. This is a four-minute song. Do you really want to listen to this?
Advance-Titan: Yes.

GL: This is pre-“Glitter,” you know that movie that she made.
A-T: I never saw it.

GL: I don’t think anyone did. It was really bad. Well, in her defense, I’ll say that Mariah Carey really does have an amazing voice. Did you know that she’s had opera training? She just has an amazing range in comparison to some of the teenyboppers you hear now. These are the songs of my graduate school years. My music history pretty much ends in 1992.

(Mariah hits a high note.)

GL: Will you close the door, please? I hope my Village People stuff doesn’t come up. (My iPod) says that I have 3,000-some songs.

Jasmine: Happy Anniversary MC!!!!
This month has been hectic. I attended a few anti-slavery campaign events. (It’s interesting that folks think slavery has ended but in reality there are more slaves existent in today’s world than there were generations ago.) Macy ‘high pitched’ Gray has been entertaining us with her antics in London. I popped to Amy Winehouse’s gig - she is totally nuts and we love her and of course it’s my girl Mariah’s ‘17th anniversary’ of her born day so much rejoicing was undertaken in the form of pink champagne on both sides of the pond! Happy anniversary MC!

Did they messed up????
I'm in bed right now with my laptop (hehe), recovering slowly from pneumonia,  nothing really new Mariah related except... the adoption rumor, everywhere in all languages.... as I'm bored as hell in my damn bed, I decided to search other clues about that rumor and found the following:
here - here- here - here
Don't tell me they made such a big mistake!!!

3482 medias across the world report the adoption rumor
As far as we know, until now it's only a rumor, however a lot of media around the world report the info, for some of them it's even already done.
I was like, huh.... there must be something .... or there must be someone who spreaded the rumor, I know it comes from Latin radio show America Showbiz, but still... I made some research, no Mariah mention on the "Casa de Niños Franck Gonzalez" this orphanage is located in Tepic, Nayarit (Mexico), if you feel you can help out these kids, take a look at the website, click here to access it.
