I'm not a chart freak but I don't get it.  Is it lack of promotion? No! (at least not in the US). Christmas CDs don't sell that much?  False (look at the sales of Jackie Evancho and those Glee people).  So what was it?  I really don't get it!

The American singing superstar is currently pregnant with her and husband Nick Cannon’s first offspring. Nick recently revealed the pair are expecting twins, and both stars are thrilled about welcoming the two little ones in the new year.

Mariah isn’t sure what effect being a mother will have on her career, although she admits it could well inspire her to write some magical songs.

“I have no idea. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll start writing songs at some point soon, because that’s a creative process and I think this is a creative time,” she told the British edition of OK! magazine.

For now though, Mariah is happy to spread some festive cheer by singing her iconic Christmas anthems. This year the singer released Merry Christmas II You, an album dedicated to the holiday season, and she feels the record’s joyful mood fits in well with the way she’s feeling at the moment.

“So I think all that really works. But, fortunately, working on the Christmas album and singing Christmas songs, it sort of fits. And not a lot fits right now, so I’m glad something does,” she laughed.

There is also a Christmas party they will be throwing on December 23.
He is asking a friend to perform Mariah songs, will be making a lot of games, and will offer to people attending the party, drinks and turkey.

He will also do another contest, a picture of Mariah will be on the wall and fans will be asked to pose like her and will be able to win the Mariah boxset on Facebook after the Christmas party!

Mariah Carey Tells Back Story of How She Revealed Twins to Obama
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are having twins. Congrats! They broke the news last week to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle.

Here’s the backstory, as told by Mariah to a pal who prefers to remain unnamed:

“After waiting as long as possible w/out confirming or denying the rumors as to whether or not we are expecting twins, I told NC he could confirm this on his radio show this am. (Yaaaay! All is well am seeing a specialist and had a great ultrasound last night! )
We wanted to wait because of what happened last year and the fact that its technically a “high risk pregnancy” when expecting twins so we really wanted to make sure we were all good first.
Last week I performed for the President in DC for “Christmas in Washington” which airs on TNT tomorrow dec.17th. Ironically, I opened the show w/my own composition for “Merry Christmas ll you” “One Child” : ).
After closing the show w/”O come all ye faithful” I stood w/ host Ellen Degeneres and the rest of the performers (NC was seated in the front row next to Portia + the first family)as well all listened to president Obama’s Christmas message.
After he spoke, the President and First lady joined the performers in singing “Hark the herald angels”as they exchanged holiday wishes with us. I hadn’t told anybody about the twins but decided to share the news with the Obama’s as it was a once in a lifetime moment and I wanted to remember it forever and share the memory with my children when they are old enough to understand how special that was:
I almost had to bind and gag NC so he wouldn’t tell the world right away (lol)so after the latest ultrasound last night I said ok and apparently he confirmed it on air a few minutes ago,judging from the flurry of activity on twitter!
I just wanted to let you know for the record and tell you our story,

E-mails are already coming in.  Many fans express their happiness for Mariah, many are also disappointed Nick "stole" the joy to announce it from Mariah.  After listening to the radio show, I don't plan to comment on it 'cause I don't want to look like an "anti-Nick" person (which I'm not, I'm a Mariah fan, not a Nick fan, it's not "Heroes of Nick" ).  He says himself he's gonna be in trouble for that announcement.  Mariah has her extended family and I guess Nick's extended family are his radio listeners.

Anyway, the only important thing for me, is Mariah's happiness and health and of course the health of the two babies

This morning Nick gave the exclusive scoop on 92.3 NOW during Rollin’ with Nick Cannon… Mariah and him are having twins!

This coming Friday, Mariah Carey will be performing during Christmas in Washington for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

While at the event, the President and First Lady inquired about Mariah’s pregnancy. Caught up in the emotion, Mariah made the first people she revealed the news of her twins to Barack and Michelle Obama!

A farmer has discovered that by repeatedly playing her festive favourite All I Want For Christmas Is You to his herd he can increase milk production by 20 per cent.

Whenever US pop diva Mariah’s 1994 record pipes up the goats immediately relax and produce around an extra pint each a day.

Angus, 57, who runs St Helen’s Farm in Seaton Ross, near York, said: “We are absolutely dumbfounded by the difference playing this song has made to the goats.

“Our milk maids started listening to the radio when they were milking them. They immediately noticed the animals were more relaxed and started producing more milk as a result.

“When one of the girls brought in a CD of Christmas classics they seemed to perk up when the Mariah Carey song came on. It’s really upbeat and they seem to love it.

“I think the staff here are sick of it now but unfortunately it works for the goats.”

Angus, who runs the farm with wife Kathleen, 55, has tried treating the goats with different Christmas-themed songs.

The goats like carols but Wizzard’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday actually slowed down production and The Christmas Song by The Chipmonks brought it to a halt.

St Helen’s Farm milks 2,000 goats. Each produces about three litres a day...or three and a half litres if Mariah is playing.

Pure madness from Mariah is just the ticket to lift us out of that afternoon slump
There’s not much that could bring us back from the brink of hangover hell today – the fatal crash is going to happen very soon - but this little piece of magic from Mariah has just extended our survival by a couple of hours, at least.

Mariah’s a massive fan of Christmas, so she’s only gone and recorded her own version of Auld Lang Syne. But in a stroke of pure, crazy genius, she’s made a dance version with a little talking section about not knowing the words. Take that in for a moment and then watch it, againandagainandagainandagain. If this is what pregnancy does to her, we hope she’s always got a baby in her belly.

In high spirits with another hit holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, Mariah Carey remembers her guncles, addresses bisexual rumors, and considers the possibility of a miraculous gay birth.

The Advocate: No one does contemporary Christmas pop like you, Mariah. Do you really love the holidays, or are you just faking it?
Mariah Carey: You can’t really fake that. I don’t think people who don’t love Christmas could translate that into a great Christmas song. People ask me, “How do you make these songs feel like they’re already classics?” The point is that I do love the holidays so much, and I love writing songs and making records, so it seems like a natural fusion for me. I did the first Christmas album so long ago, and then every year I’d listen to it and pick it apart. So I needed to make a new Christmas album for myself as well as for the fans. I wanted an album that I could listen to during the holidays.

I've read reports that your holiday repertoire might be made into a Broadway musical about your life as early as next year. What’s the real story?
It definitely wouldn’t be about my life; start that rumor and they’ll never lose it, so make sure people know it’s not about my life. Right now we’re working on finding a script. We’ve been in discussions with HBO for over three years now. Everybody’s been very supportive of the project, but nobody wants to accept a script that’s not amazing. Anybody out there reading this who’s a writer or writer-in-training, we’re definitely accepting different ideas right now. Because it’s so important to me, I don’t want to make a mistake and have the script not be as good as the music. I want the script to be better than the music.

You’d rather debut your musical on TV than on Broadway?
A long time ago, the first idea I had was for it to be on Broadway and hopefully become a perennial. Then we spoke with HBO and got into discussions about making a movie musical. So it wouldn’t be a TV movie, because it’s not TV, it’s HBO.

Marc Shaiman, who worked as a writer-producer on Merry Christmas II You, would certainly be an asset on that musical project.
I love Marc Shaiman. He’s amazing, and I’d love to work with him again. Randy Jackson introduced me to him. When we sat down to write at the house in L.A., it was an amazing experience. After that, I was like, “He has to do the orchestrations for the entire album, because nobody else is coming close to what he’s doing, even in his demos.” And he’s hilarious. Being with him in person is almost as good as his e-mails.

Last year you made magic with filmmaker Lee Daniels in Precious, and now you’ve created another holiday miracle with Marc Shaiman. Not to detract from their talent, but is there something special about gay men that makes them a perfect creative match for you?
I mean, how could I say that there’s not? I can’t generalize too much because straight people I work with will be like, “Well, what does that say about me?” But it is true that there’s a certain chemistry there. Yes, their talents are gigantic, but they’re also open-minded, and it’s all about the shared references. I really clicked with Marc when we wrote our first song together, “Christmas Time Is in the Air Again,” because our references were so similar. His are way deeper than mine in terms of standards and older Broadway stuff, but he was surprised that I knew old standards that most people don’t know, because my mom would sing them when I was really little. And Lee’s another one that you just can’t help but love. He’s got his own unique personality, and we share so many of the same references as well. I can’t even think of all the crazy things we quote and laugh about.

Whether it’s those surprised concertgoers on Oprah last year or the “Party in the FIP” boys who just made a YouTube video for “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” your gay fans aren’t shy about expressing their love. When did you first feel that support from the gay audience?
I’ve never really categorized it like that. But I’ve always been able to connect with different kinds of people, because whoever connects with me realizes that I do truly appreciate and care about them. And ... wait, what was I saying? You touched on something I wanted to discuss ... Sorry, when you’re pregnant you don’t remember things from one second ago.

Your connection with gay fans.
Yeah, maybe part of the connection is that I do write songs from an outsider perspective. A lot of my die-hard gay fans don’t just know my singles, but they also know all the album cuts. I have songs about feeling different and alienated, because I grew up with my own issues, being biracial and not having money. Some of those lyrics can apply to anybody who feels different. My die-hard gay fans listen to songs like “Outside” and “Close My Eyes,” songs that most people wouldn’t know, and these songs have become anthemic for them for their own personal reasons.

Do you have any words of encouragement for the young victims of antigay bullying?
It’s horrible that it’s almost 2011 and this is still going on, but I don’t want to get on my podium and say, “Just keep believing!” — I know that’s cliché, and it would be typical of me to say something like that. It’s almost impossible to say anything, really, except you must be aware that dealing with that in high school is a passing place. You have to stay strong, rely on your true friends, and try to get through it, as opposed to drowning in it. Look at how many people suffered during high school and came out of it a better, stronger adult. That’s the thing to focus on.

You also returned the support from gay fans last year when you invited a young gay couple onstage at a Las Vegas concert to help facilitate their marriage proposal.
If two people want to get married, it’s their prerogative — we hope. Everybody should be able to do what they want to do and be in the pursuit of happiness. Ever since I was a little girl, my mother was very open-minded and had many different types of friends, so being gay never seemed wrong or strange to me. Her best friends were a gay couple, Ernie and Mort, and they kind of co-raised me. They were the nicest guys ever, and they would watch my little shows when I’d sing. Today, I guess they’d be called my guncles. Sometimes they’d put us up when we didn’t have a place to go. I couldn’t wait to go stay at their house because it was so beautifully done.

Are they still in your life?
One of them passed away. They weren’t together at the very end, but they were together for a long, long time.

Back to your gay fans, Marc Jacobs’s ex-boyfriend Jason Preston got a big tattoo of your name on his stomach a few years ago. Isn’t that a bit much?
I’ve seen it. How can I say it’s a bit much? No, it’s amazing. I mean, it is very surprising when you see something like that, but he’s a fun guy, so I thought it was adorable.

How might you and Nick handle it if your child turned out to be gay?
I guess we’d handle it as best we could in terms of being supportive.

You strike me as one of those people who might secretly hope for a gay son.
[Laughs] I just hope for whoever’s going to be happy and that I can be a great mother to.

What if you have a little lesbian who won’t wear your tight hand-me-down dresses and butterfly jewelry?
No comment. [Laughs] No, the thing is that you can’t try to make somebody something they’re not. Everybody’s like, “Oh, if she has a girl, everything’s going to be pink, blah, blah, blah.” But I don’t think you should go totally overboard on that. You should wait and see what the child wants.

What do you think about today’s female artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, and Christina Aguilera, who flirt with bisexuality in their lyrics, videos, and in the press? Many view it as a disingenuous marketing strategy.
Maybe it’s more a reflection of society becoming more accepting. Some of those different artists might really be expressing themselves, but yes, some might just be looking for a little more attention. You never know.

Bisexual rumors have surrounded you for years.
If it makes somebody happy to say that, then whatever, but that’s not the reality. I don’t have a discriminatory policy of who I’m friends with, so yes, I’m friends with women who are gay — gay, straight, it doesn’t matter to me. So I don’t get upset when I hear that, because it is what it is. I guess I could lie about it to seem more exciting.

Is Nick comfortable around your gay friends?
He’s fine. Honestly, he does his own thing and doesn’t really care what anybody else is doing. He’s just living his life and being happy.

Is it true that Lindsay Lohan has tried to seduce you?
No, but I have hung out with her at a club. She was with Sean Lennon, and they came over. I remember he was playing my Hello Kitty guitar, and we were all just singing, laughing, and making up songs. It really couldn’t have been more innocent.

Some reviews have referred to Burlesque as the new Glitter. Have you seen it?
I haven’t seen it, and I don’t feel like sitting in a movie theater right now. I can barely lie in bed and be comfortable. First I’m going to go see Elf, the Broadway musical, because I’m very focused on my Christmas music moment. But maybe I’ll see it when it comes out on DVD.

On this Sunday's holiday episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Mimi travels to Pensacola, Fla., to help out Ty Pennington & Co.-and to surprise homeowner Finis Gaston, who's a huge fan. So how does he react?

Happy would be an understatement. Finis jumps around like, well, a cheerleader. "Meeting Mariah Carey was a dream come true," he gushes. "I've got every one of her albums...and I got a hug from her now."

Finis–a scholarship student at Alabama A&M until his mother died his senior year–left school and returned home to raise his niece and nephews so they would not be sent to foster care. Yesterday I posted a lil' something about Mariah and Nick's different point of view about Santa.  Today, after many complains from radio listeners who say Nick ruined Christmas for their child, he talked about it again on his radio show.  He said Mariah and him went for an ultrasound and it was so nice seing the baby, but he whispered to Mariah's belly that Santa doesn't exist and Mariah hit him on the head , he says she's still upset.

As Mariah (on Twitter) and Nick (on his radio show) talked about it, it's not private.

Different views over Santa (bad, bad Nick..... ) 

At first I thought it was him being silly like as he always jokes, but it seems there's a difference of points of view between Mariah and him about Santa!
Mariah wants her kids to believe in Santa, to believe he brings toys and stuff and all the magic which goes with it. 
Nick doesn't want his kids to believe in Santa, he doesn't want them to believe that a big white fat man comes in their house while they are sleeping and he doesn't want his kids to believe all the toys they receive are coming from Santa, he wants them to know it's bought with his hard earned money.  Himself was told by his father at age 3 that Santa doesn't exist and wants to do the same from the start.

Nick, man, you forgot you married a woman who loves the Christmas magic!

Simon Cowell reportedly chosen three US X Factor judges
Simon Cowell will reportedly judge the US version of The X Factor along with Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger and Will Smith.

Cowell, 51, has allegedly already chosen the three other judges to help him on the panel with a different fifth judge every week.

It is claimed Mariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi and Zac Efron are being lined up to appear as well as pop singer George Michael.

A source said to UK newspaper The People: 'Simon wants to keep it fresh and have a different judge every week. He's over the moon with his three core judges, and himself of course.

'But he wants some big names to do guest appearances. He has spoken to several stars and they have bitten his hand off to appear.'

She's made no secret of the down sides of pregnancy, talking about her swollen fingers, nausea and exhaustion.

But it's clear Mariah Carey is thrilled with her growing bump, which she happily patted with a delighted smile on her face as she performed at Disney World today.

The singer, promoting her new Christmas album, was dressed in a little Santa outfit, which highlighted her baby bump.

While she seemed full of energy onstage, Mariah has admitted her pregnancy hasn't been easy.

'Right now I feel nauseous, I'm exhausted,' she has admitted.

But there was no sign of exhaustion as she jumped onstage.

Mariah performed All I Want For Christmas Is You, which she began while sitting in a horse-drawn carriage. She then walked on stage to finish as the Disney characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse danced alongside her.

Next she changed into her red Mrs Claus outfit to perform Oh Santa!
