While Mariah and everyone who worked on "Obsessed" are denying it's about Eminem, the rapper has now released a track called "The Warning" in which he threatens Mariah.  To prove he had a relationship with her he has treatened to release intimate photos and voicemails in his new diss track "The Warning" if Mariah doesn't stop denying their relationship.

This track is mean, insulting and vulgar again.  Typically Eminem!

Songstress Mariah Carey is famous as a woman who knows what she wants – and usually gets it.

So when she made Liverpool DJ Anton Powers an offer, there was really no way he could refuse.

The Juice FM and club favourite is one of the hottest properties in the country for remixes, in demand by huge names including The Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Alesha Dixon and The Saturdays.

But, he tells Insider, he wasn’t taking on any new Cahill remixes so he could concentrate on his own tracks.

“Then I got a call from our manager, Jon Barlow, late on a Saturday night saying Mariah Carey’s label had called asking for us to remix her new single,” explains Anton.

“Obviously I couldn’t say no to her, the only issue was that if she didn’t like the mix, it wouldn’t get used and we wouldn’t get paid!

“So we did the mix, sent it back to them, thankfully she liked it but said she wanted to redo the vocals to fit our mix. She went back in the studio (unfortunately in the USA and not with us) and re-did the vocals so it fits better on our mix, then she gave it the green light.”

The result, Obsessed, is due out next month but ECHO DJ of the Year Anton’s already been told that it’s the label’s favourite remix of the year.

A diva? Insider thinks not.

Dressed as herself, Carey said there was a lot of hoopla on the set. "Well, we had a lot of people outside. I'm walking up to the Plaza [Hotel], and when I was dressed as Mariah Carey, there were a lot of people just standing there taking pictures," she told MTV News. "And the street was closed down, and it was a whole rigmarole. It is what it is." 

The pop star relished the idea of going incognito and spending some time as a regular person on the streets of New York. "So, basically, I went into costume as the stalker, and I told my bodyguard, 'I don't want you to walk with me.' So, a friend of mine was there, and I was like, 'Let's walk together.' " 

In addition to the costume — which video director Brett Ratner insists was not meant to look like Eminem — Carey made sure to change her mannerisms and walk like a guy, and to her surprise, no one realized who she was. "I was outside and no one noticed me," she said. "And honestly ... the thing is that it was fun for me to able to just be free." 

Carey has just one unpleasant memory of her non-diva moment: "The beard — not a favorite."

"I worked with Timbaland for the first time," Carey told MTV News recently. "I'm a fan of Timbaland's, so I enjoyed it. [The song] hasn't even been mixed yet but I think it's really cool." 

For the album, due in September, Carey also worked with artist/producer The-Dream on her controversial single, "Obsessed," as well as longtime collaborator Big Jim Wright. 

"I worked with Big Jim Wright, who works with Sounds of Blackness a lot, and so there's live-feeling songs on the album," she explained. "A lot of my fans, since I've been twittering, a lot of the fans are like, 'We want some live-sounding stuff,' so you have to find that middle ground." 

But unsurprisingly, working with Jermaine Dupri seems to hold a special place in Carey's heart. The pair have created many hits together, including "We Belong Together" and "Sweetheart." 

"I worked with JD again," she said. "I always love working with Jermaine. Every time it's just ... it reminds me of the first time we worked together, which was 'Always Be My Baby.' Once you do a song like that and you have it forever, you wanna just continue to try and re-create that magic, so that's what we do."

The “Obsessed” singer is set to take the stage at this year’s show, an insider exclusively reveals to Rap-Up.com. The 26th annual event will air September 13 from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

An official announcement is expected soon. Previously announced performers include Taylor Swift and Muse.

The appearance comes on the heels of Mariah’s new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, scheduled for release two days later on September 15. The last time she performed at the VMAs was in 2005 when the show was held in Miami.

Russell Brand will host the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live on Sunday, September 13, at 9 p.m.

So, has their marriage changed the music she's making these days? "Everything changes when you're in love," she told MTV News. "We have a connection that I've never experienced before. So that's amazing and it's something that I can't even really put into words." 

She added that in some ways her relationship with Cannon did affect her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, due this fall. She explained, "So everything that I do when I go into the studio — I mean, there are songs that are directly [about our relationship]. They come from the place where I'm at right now with him." 

But that wasn't the only relationship she had on her mind when she was working on Memoirs. Certain tracks touch on past relationships and experiences. "There are some songs that are about years ago," she said. "There are some songs that are about old friends, stories they told me. So it's like every time I go in to write something new we go somewhere, and it's like I don't know that everybody would know that I've been through half of these situations."

The deadline is a month early this year for eligibility. The reason is that the Grammys are a week early — Jan. 31 instead of Feb. 7, 2010. Huh?

That means we’ll be awarding music at the end of next January that came out between Oct. 1, 2009, and the end of this summer. What about all the music from this fall? It will have to wait.

For Mariah, this means only her witty single, “Obsessed,” will make the cut-off. Her album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” will be released on Sept. 15 but won’t appear on a Grammy show until 2011. That’s not exactly instant gratification.

Mariah told me the other day: “I’m sorry to have missed the deadline. We were trying to make it. But we also realized the material we had was so special, and we didn’t want to rush and do it wrong.”

Carey says she feels “Angel” could be her strongest collection yet. She’s working so hard on it that this is the first summer in years that she hasn’t left muggy, sluggish New York during the dog days and headed to Sardinia off the coast of Italy.

“No, I’m staying in NYC,” she said, “and getting this done.”

I haven't had many opportunities in my career to interview her, but when the opportunity arises to chop it up with an artist who has sold over 175 million records worldwide, then it's my pleasure.

With her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (look out for Mariah's story behind the album title on MTV News) almost complete, it's an interesting time to catch up with MC. 

Uptown at BET's "106 & Park," Mariah was premiering her new video for her remix of "Obsessed," featuring Gucci Mane, one of the hottest MCs in the game. Not enough is said about Carey's ear for hip-hop. Don't forget that she was the artist who collaborated with rappers like Jay-Z, ODB, Nas and the Lox early on in their careers. Gucci Mane is another great choice.

It's not difficult to know when Mariah is in the building. You may not see her at first, but you'll definitely see her entourage. The girl doesn't roll light, but that's just another reason to love her. After all, she is Mariah Carey.

As we walked in, Mariah was looking glam, surrounded by a team of stylists and makeup artists getting her ready for the interview. Nick, my producer, set up the shot and we were away. We spoke in detail about the new album, her musical direction and progression from the last album.

For Memoirs MC worked with several producers for the first time (including Timbaland and The-Dream) and old friends like Jermaine Dupri.

We got to the bottom of the big question: Is the video for "Obsessed" directed at anyone in particular? Turns out she was more inspired by a family member than anybody else. 

But perhaps the most insightful moment of the entire interview came when we were speaking about how Mariah dressed up in disguise on the shoot for "Obsessed." With her hair tied back and wearing a hoodie and a fake beard, the unrecognizable Mariah actually braved it alone for the first time in years as she walked around New York sans bodyguard. So when I asked her what she would do if she could be totally anonymous for a day, I was genuinely taken aback by her answer. She said, "I'd like to make friends." It might sound strange but if you think about it, Mariah has been a star since her teens. Ever since she first broke into the scene, Mariah has been Mariah Carey: Superstar. With that immense talent comes the fact that she will never know if people speak to her because she's a nice girl or because she's a star. I didn't feel sorry for her when she said it, but I did acknowledge that it was an incredibly honest answer from a woman who just happens to be one of the biggest stars in the world.

Mariah's new music video for Obsessed premiered last week and immediately shot straight to the top of the online streaming charts. This week, it was the most-streamed video clip on Yahoo! That’s because Mariah Carey has decided that the unusually early August 31st deadline is not giving her enough time finish her new CD properly. “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” was supposed to be released by Island/Def Jam on August 25th. But now Carey has asked the label to give her at least three more weeks. The new date is September 15th, although even that could change.

Carey does have her hat in the ring, though, with the witty and catchy single “Obsessed” already getting lots of airplay. The song is a neat dig at Eminem, who ceaselessly needles Carey in song and and interviews. The “Obsessed” video, directed by Brett Ratner, is also a hit and should only help the single up the charts.

Michael would have turned 51 on 29 August. Jackson’s brother said: “The fans want to be part of something. We are gong to do a tribute show at The O2.

But the video's director, Brett Ratner, insists that as far as he knows, the song — off Carey's latest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, out next month — isn't about Eminem.

"It's not about Eminem — we weren't like, 'Let's find an Eminem look-alike,' " he told MTV News about the stalker character in the video, which he originally wanted to be played by Ellen DeGeneres. "We weren't talking to any Eminem [look-alikes]. I guess it's a good rumor, but I don't think it's true. I don't really know. I never asked her, but then when I recommended Ellen, that's where she got the idea."

While Carey hasn't commented and Cannon has hedged, "Obsessed" seems to be a pretty clear dig at Eminem, who grabbed headlines earlier this year with his song "Bagpipes From Baghdad," on which he claimed to have had a relationship with Carey (which she has denied) and warned Cannon to "back the f--- up," because he wanted her back. 

"Obsessed" contains verses that certainly seem directed at Eminem, addressing his admitted former drug problems ("It must be the weed/ It must be the E/ 'Cause you be poppin' "), and in the video, she dresses exactly like him, right down to the baggy sweats and aggro posturing — although she's also sporting a fake goatee, which to the best of our knowledge Em has never rocked. At clip's end, her pseudo Em is crushed by a speeding bus while attempting to snap a picture of Carey.

And though Cannon has denied that Carey is aping Slim Shady in the video, ("I don't think she would take her time," he said. "My wife doesn't beef. She's Mariah Carey. She's not beefin', she's a vegetarian"), I think we can all agree that there's at least a touch of Em in her performance, even if she doesn't actually look like him (she actually kinda looks like some sort of weird combination of Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Cha'ka from "Land of the Lost"! 

Either way, the "Obsessed" video is still plenty big — shot at New York's Plaza Hotel, directed by "Rush Hour" dude Brett Ratner — and plenty glossy. In a lot of ways, it's like her other videos, only with an emphasis on comedy (check the adoring gazes her Em dopplegänger flashes while lavishing Carey with a hair dryer). Which means that it might actually signify the return of "Touch My Body" Mariah — remember the video with "30 Rock" star Jack McBrayer? 

So, subtlety or no, "Obsessed" seems to speak for itself ...

Nick Talks Mariah’s Michael Jackson Memorial Performance
Mariah Carey may be a worldwide singing sensation, but husband Nick Cannon told Access Hollywood she was more than nervous when she stepped on stage at Michael Jackson’s public memorial on Tuesday to perform “I’ll Be There.”

“It’s one of those things where nervous isn’t even a word because no one is ever prepared or emotionally or physically to be able to go on stage whether it’s one person or one million people. You’re never prepared to go up and have to sing and at the same time mourn a friend,” Nick told Access on Wednesday evening. “You never know what’s going to happen. It’s definitely one of those things where we just said a prayer, you know, left it all in God’s hands and let it happen.”

Mariah herself hit her Twitter account following the memorial at Los Angeles’ Staples Center to explain her performance, which saw the superstar hitting a couple of not-quite-perfect notes.

“Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me,” Mariah Tweeted.

Although the number wasn’t up to Mariah’s own high standards, her husband, Nick, said it was very powerful.

“I definitely feel like her performance moved many, many people, so it did what it was supposed to do,” he told Access.

Nick explained that Mariah’s participation in the historic event came about “last minute” leaving his wife without a chance to really rehearse the number.

“It wasn’t planned or anything and fortunately we happen to be out here [in Los Angeles] and she wasn’t doing something else on the East Coast, so it kind of all worked out but it was definitely one of those things were it was just last minute,” he said. 

”[Michael] was a friend of hers so she was like ‘I’ll do anything whatever,’” he added.

Mariah Carey 'Had A Human Moment' At Memorial, Nick Cannon Says
Carey's husband thinks she didn't need to apologize for being emotional at Michael Jackson's service.
On Wednesday, Mariah Carey told "Today" and her Twitter followers that she thought she "let everybody down" when her voice cracked when she sang "I'll Be There" at Michael Jackson's memorial. But Nick Cannon didn't think his wife had anything to apologize for, saying that her performance was "all about the emotion." 
"To be able to see [the memorial for] not only someone who influenced music and the world, but someone who was a close friend, to have to sit there and perform, it's just a little tough," he told MTV News on Wednesday. 

Cannon also noted that Carey wasn't the only performer who got emotional during their tributes to the late King of Pop. "It's tough on anybody," he said. "We seen all the performances, and everybody was emotional, so I think she was just trying to say she had a human moment and that was one of those things. It wasn't about the entertainment. It was about just having that moment." 

The "America's Got Talent" host said he felt that Tuesday's performances were all equally touching, and none stood out above the rest. "It was one of those things where it was raw emotion in the entire place. Nobody was up there faking," he said. "Nobody was up there trying to showboat or make it about them. Everybody had a magical moment." 

Cannon said he was also moved by how the Staples Center that day was "packed, but it was still silent. It was one of those things where everybody was there to pay respects to the greatest entertainer that ever lived."

On the "Today" show Wednesday (July 8), Carey described how hard it was for her to sing on the show and how seeing the casket made it difficult for her to get through the performance. Mariah was the first performer.  The emotion was so strong that her voice was so fragile when she started to sing, then she gave her all for the one she came to honor today.

I'm not a Michael Jackson fan, but we need to admit the guy influenced the music and was part of the childhood of most of us. 
With the memorial service going on, I remembered the lil' boy I was, trying to do the moonwalk, and then... "Thriller" which gave me the most incredible fear, jumping behind the sofa and asking my mom if it was over....

Thanks Michael, for the music, the memories and the fear....

At the memorial:  In the very first verse Carey -- in a black, glittery dress -- made it clear that this would be a more restrained, elegant rendition of the song. Singing through the emotions, Carey was at a near-gasp in the song's opening moments. Her partner on the 1992 cover, Trey Lorenz, made an appearance here as well, heightening the performance's gospel undertones. Lorenz, in fact, showed off more vocal dynamics than Carey. But a more subtle Carey is a more graceful one. 

Inside the venue, Powers noted that Carey's take began in a tiny voice, as if to honor the boy Michael. When Carey found that Lorenz almost bowled her over, that's when she turned her voice up a notch to match her singing partner. Lorenz sang Michael's name in falsetto, and Carey added "Never Can Say Goodbye..." 

Very tasteful.

Jackson Memorial Guest Lineup Unveiled
Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Martin Luther King III Among Celebrities Invited by Family to Participate

Superstar athletes, pop singers and civil rights activists are among the guests invited by Michael Jackson's family to participate in the late singer's memorial service. 

The lineup includes: Ron Boyd (family friend), Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Andrae Crouch Choir, Berry Gordy, Jennifer Hudson, Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain’s Got Talent), Magic Johnson, Martin Luther King III, Bernice A. King, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Brooke Shields, Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend), Usher and Stevie Wonder. 

A statement released by the family said the list is preliminary and subject to change.

The Mariah-Eminem saga has turned into a pretty swell feud, with both sides getting in their cracks.

But now Mark Batson, the producer who shepherds Eminem’s albums to completion, tells me it’s not personal at all.

“He just used her name because it rhymed,” Batson told me at the BET Awards last Sunday. “It doesn’t mean a thing.”

In fact, says Batson, “he” — meaning Eminem — “uses most names in songs because they rhyme.”

Well, it’s a theory, but I’m not sure I totally believe it. “Bagpipes from Baghdad,” the “song” in question on Eminem’s “Relapse,” doesn’t use the word “Mariah” to rhyme with anything, actually. But Eminem does call Mariah the “c word” in the song, and mocks her husband and a former boyfriend.

Now Carey gets him back in the “Obsessed” video. By the looks of it, the video is going to be hilarious. Carey is dressed in a hooded gray sweatshirt, Eminem’s trademark costume. Can’t wait to see the actual footage. Let Carey have the last laugh on this twisted piece of work.

P.S. If you can’t get enough of Em, his sequel comes out in December — “Relapse, Valium Two.” Batson says the lyrics in the new one make the ones from the current CD— many way too unprintable — seem meek. Merry Xmas!

The video was directed by Brett Ratner, who originally cast Andy Samberg for the role of the man. But because it’s presumably anti-Eminem, he backed out and Mariah filled in for the role of the man.

- Carol was going through the pictures from the “Obsessed” video shoot yesterday and came across something irrelevant but interesting.
The stalker/obsessive persona who changes disguises to follow Mariah Carey is named Michael Caligiuri when “he” plays a bell boy! It probably means nothing, but you never know with Mimi, she might be dropping some sort of hint?

As I zoomed way waaay in, I realized it was a Nokia — an N97 to be exact.
