Reclusive pop star George Michael has hinted he may step out of his low-key existence to perform at the London Live 8 gig on Saturday (02JUL05). The Too Funky singer performed with his former band Wham! at the original Live Aid concert in 1985, but in recent years has been less willing to perform on stage. Although not on the official bill for the Hyde Park concert, his spokesperson Connie Filipello admits, "Bob (Geldof) has been on to him a lot. "You never know, there may be a surprise on Saturday." When Mariah Carey performed "We Belong Together," I was pulling for her to make it through. Her voice sounded strained and that song is one that looks incredibly difficult to sing live. Somehow, she worked her way through it, like the pro she is. Her performance was sort of a breath of fresh air as it had no theatrics, fireworks, or crazy lighting tricks. | Infos for the fans who plan to go to London
- The organisers of the Live 8 say that those who miss out on a ticket should stay away from Hyde Park on Saturday, as room will be severely limited. So, look in advance where you can get close to Hyde Park to try to hear something. - Saturday will be hell in London, as a lot of roads in the city will be closed due to the London Pride 2005. - Check the subway stations who will be open/closed, as a lot of stations in the Hyde Park area will be closed. - Remember, Mariah will rest Friday, Saturday until the concert and will spend the day in her hotel Sunday. Mariah will visit London this week to promote "We Belong Together" released on 4 July and to perform at the London Live 8 concert. Thursday 30 June Mariah is scheduled to arrive in London Thursday afternoon. She will be staying at the Sanderson hotel (click here for location details). Mariah will arrive at the Sanderson sometime around 4:00pm. Friday 1 July Mariah will have a day off to rest before her performance at Live 8. Saturday 2 July Mariah is scheduled to go on stage at Live 8 in Hyde Park at 7:00pm. Sunday 3 July Mariah will spend the day doing promotional work inside the hotel (interviews, photoshoots etc). Monday 4 July Mariah will visit several radio stations during the day. She will then appear on the Richard & Judy show and TRL. The Applause Store is responsible for ticket allocations to TRL. A few fans won a contest to attend the taping of the "The Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular" in New York yesterday. Some other fans waited at the pier to try to see Mariah arriving and boarding the yacht. Mariah arrived late with her staff and Da Brat was there too. The NBC people were getting kind of mad, especially since one lady said 9:03 was the perfect time for a certain shot and they had to get going. Mariah wore a tight dress which was black on top and went to knee and from knee up it had diagonal colors of rainbow up to hip. They made several stops and Mariah sang in front of different stops. Mariah performed "America The Beautiful" in a long blue sequenced gown infront of the Statue Of Liberty. She then sang "We Belong Together" in a short red mini dress in front of what used to be the WTC. She sang "It's Like That" with a special little intro in front of a backdrop of the bridges, for that she wore a white skirt and top with diamond buttons, it was sailor suit inspired. It's all mimed, the director said he wanted it that way, plus Mariah is on vocal rest. So before the debate starts on the 4th, it wasn't live. Mariah went into the studio a couple nights ago and recorded **NEW** vocals for all three songs, however during the actual taping they were all mimed (using the new recordings)......cause the director wanted it that way. Thousands more tickets are being made available for next Saturday's Live8 concert in Hyde Park. Organiser Sir Bob Geldof is due to give details of how people can get hold of the newly issued 55,000 tickets. Space has been set aside in Hyde Park for the extra people to watch the event on giant screens. Among those due to play in London are Coldplay, Dido, Sir Elton John, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and U2. About 150,000 people are expected to attend the gig after winning tickets through a mobile phone text message lottery. Giant screens are being set up in 14 other cities across the UK to watch the London concert. Organisers say that those who miss out on a ticket should stay away from Hyde Park on Saturday, as room will be severely limited. Live8 will be the largest global broadcast in television history, with 85% of the world's population able to tune in through a variety of media. The broadcast of the eight free concerts being staged in London, Philadelphia, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Johannesburg, Tokyo and Toronto on July 2 will be available in more than 140 countries. Those without tickets will be able to experience the concerts on television, radio, online or on their mobile phones. A few months ago, while searching in old tapes, he came across a tape that had an old interview he did with Shock G. he flipped to the b-side, and to his surprise he discovered the missing 2Pac interview from 1991. Well guys, a few days ago, I planned a great surprise for a lucky winner of a new Heroes of Mariah member contest. I waited to announce it until I got the stuff in my hands, which was yesterday. I really wanted to make it with one of you. The prize was a ticket to attend Mariah's concert in Bonn. Kinou and I were really excited when we got the tickets and planned the contest. 'It's a new approach that I would have to let [the director] explain,' Carey said. Mariah Carey is planning to pull double duty at her next video shoot. The singer wants to film two clips at the same time when she begins shooting on Thursday, much like she did for the dynamic duo "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together." This time, Carey is set to lens a clip for her next single, "Shake It Off," along with its follow-up, "Say Somethin'." "We're making two videos," she said. "I actually just got the treatment. We came up with some cool concepts." What those concepts actually are, Carey wouldn't reveal — because it's "really technical." "It's a new approach that I would have to let [the director] explain," she said. "It's new territory." Don't look for a storyline that ties the two videos together, as found in the last pair, when she left Eric Roberts at the altar in "We Belong Together" to run off with Wentworth Miller — who came into her life in "It's Like That." (see "Mariah Carey: Free At Last?"). While Carey is rooting for a cohesive narrative storyline, she thinks the clips might end up having a "slight" link that comes across only on a subliminal level. Brett Ratner was originally slated to return to direct the videos, but Carey has since selected another director, Jake Nava — at least for "Shake It Off." "I think people can relate to [the song] no matter what you have to shake out — be it a bad day, a guy, a girl, whatever it is," Carey said. "It's one of those fun songs, where we're not taking ourselves too seriously, but it does say something, and it is real." Carey worked on "Shake It Off" with Jermaine Dupri, but only after she rejected "Say Somethin' " (which she recorded with Pharrell Williams and Snoop Dogg) as the first single from The Emancipation of Mimi. "L.A. Reid was totally into 'Say Somethin' ' as the first single," she said. "And I was like, 'It's great, but I don't know.' ... It's very Pharrell. He very much goes in that jazzy kind of direction, which is great. I could go there with him, but it's just not where I would naturally go. "L.A. was like, 'You and Jermaine make magic,' " Carey continued. " 'Why don't you go work with Jermaine?' And I was like, 'Well, I love Jermaine. Is he free?' " Dupri offered to start working with the singer the next day. "So I went down there and did two records with him in two days," Carey revealed. | eBay tries to stop ticket sales for the Live
8 in London
As expected, tickets for the Live 8 concert in London are on sale on eBay. Geldof asked the company to stop this illegal sales, but a lot of people are smart, one of them offers two tickets for free if you buy a pen. The funniest one I saw is a guy who sold an enveloppe with fresh air from Ireland and in the enveloppe he will put two free tickets to attend the Live 8 concert in London .
In my opinion, it would have been a greater idea to simply sell the tickets for the concert instead of giving them away at random to people who sent a text message. But, if you know 2.000.000 people called at 1.50£ ( 2.75$), it makes sense. Posted on June the 17th. |

Mariah Carey is trying to persuade George Michael to duet with her at Live 8. The pair have been keen to keep their plans secret, but George is on the verge of agreeing to perform with the American singer. A source said: "Mariah is a massive fan of George's. He's currently recording a duets album, so she thought he might be up for this. "She's so excited to be involved in the Hyde Park gig and was trying to think of something that would make her performance really special. "She thinks a duet with George is the perfect thing." George has already told pals he is keen to perform some Wham! classics as well as his solo hits at the concert. The 41-year-old sang Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me with Sir Elton John at the Live Aid concert in 1985. But the pair recently fell out when Sir Elton said George should get out more. George's last live performance on a similar scale was at the NetAid concert at Wembley Stadium in 1999. Mariah has said before that George was her hero when she was a schoolgirl. on Radio Contact's chart
"It's like That" keeps rising on Radio Contact's chart (biggest radio for the French speaking part of Belgium), this week it reaches #7 out of 50, while "We Belong Together" enters this week at #43. "It's Like That" is now on this chart since 10 weeks. Here in Belgium we use to say: " Qui va lentement va sûrement" which means "Who goes slowly goes surely", that's exactly what happens with the track. It's the first time, Mariah has 2 singles at the same time in this chart .

| "We Belong Together" performance at the MTV
Movie Awards, the surprise!
You probably have seen it by now (on TV or by downloading the performance on the web). We all saw Mariah's performance and were amazed, well almost all of us, the other ones need glasses and to consult an auditory nerves specialist. Anyway, after watching it over and over again, my old screenplay courses came to my mind, and I begun to analyze the artistic and technical work. Artistic: From an artistic point of view, you all noticed the pre-performance began with Glenn Miller's "In The Mood" (which made my grandma swing), and gave us immediately the distant past and "artsy" look along with the black and white effect. Then, Mariah appearing as the only coloured element in the whole scene (sorry to call you an element Mariah lol) indicated the transition from the ordinary and passed time to something fresh, new and magical. A single color object in a black and white world focuses the attention. Techniques: My screenplay courses were limited in artistic courses and only approached a part of the filming techniques. I think that only two ways made this black and white effect possible. The first one is to film the performance with two cameras, one records in colour, the other one in black and white, then you put the two films over each other to make a single image and isolate the subject you want in the processing. The second way is made with some manipulating, you can use a filter and edit the film, this way you can choose too what you want to isolate. There may be another technique as the film and video world is in perpetual evolution, but as for now it's all I can remember. " 'Shake It Off' was just like ... That comes from that style of I guess [Usher's] Confessions and just that bounce," he said. "It's got a lot of ingredients to it because I never thought that Mariah could make a bouncy type of record. When you hear that song — the whole bounce of the record and the way she's flipping it and the stuff she talking about ... I knew that record was gonna go just because you never heard Mariah talk about this stuff. ... She's like, 'I packed up my Louis Vuitton.' She took it really on the ghetto side. I knew that was gonna strike people. Either it was gonna hit them in a wrong way or they was gonna love it. "I had that beat actually before she got to the studio. Tuesday - at La Grenouille, there was a party celebrating "A.L.T. 365+," a book of text and photographs by André Leon Talley, Vogue's editor at large. The party was given by M.A.C., the cosmetics company, and Sandra Bernhard, Iman, Ralph Lauren, Denise Rich and Ivanka Trump mingled in the crowd. But we beelined for the author, who was wearing a navy blue suit and navy tie with white polka dots, kissing and hugging guests from a window seat. Gossip, if we must, first. Much has been made about Mr. Talley's emergency enlistment to salvage Mariah Carey's failing fashion sense. "Mariah and I were friends long before there was controversy," Mr. Talley said, punctuating the conversation by throwing out compliments to guests like confetti: "Your hair is terrific!" or "That's a great Marc Jacobs!" Our Boldface correspondent's suit, bought at a Sears clearance sale, escaped notice. But he liked our boots. "I met Mariah in Aspen two Christmases ago, in the snow in Aspen. Mariah Carey’s former publicist Marvet Britto is denying reports that she was recently fired by the singer for telling a reporter that her client had zero fashion sense. Britto allegedly stated, “Mariah needed [fashion] guidance," and that she hired style diva Andre Leon Talley "to help Mariah's broken relationships with fashion houses. Like I posted this morning, Stefan Gwildis and the Partyband Gino Castelli will share the stage with Mariah at the Karlsruhe concert. So, I searched some infos about these guys. The first one, Stefan Gwildis is a classic soul singer and sings in German, the second one, Gino Castelli and his Partyband are specialized in open air shows and mainly sings popular Italian songs and Gino's shows last usually 60 minutes. Mariah loses voice Mariah Carey and publicist Marvet Britto are still talking - even if Britto is no longer the singer's mouthpiece. | My bad times are over
With a new hit album, Mariah Carey's back on top I've barely had time to catch my breath from the climb up the driveway to Mariah Carey's palatial Los Angeles home when a voluptuous vision in white glides into view. "I'm sooo sorry to have kept you waiting", she purrs. "My conference call just went on for ever..." For the full 11 minutes that Mariah has "kept me waiting," a steady trickle of elaborate canapes have appeared from one of the rented mansion's rooms. Mariah, looking stunn- ing in a gypsy skirt and vest that shows off her curves, has been here less than a day (there's been a flood at her New York apartment and the scale of the damage has yet to be assessed) but already the Bel Air abode is perfumed with the expensive scent of the Diptyque candles. In the imposing entrance hall, every surface is covered by silver-framed photographs that depict happy moments in Mariah's life: holidays with friends, her family, even a scruffy ginger cat. Mariah has had a rough time of late. There was a two-week stay in hospital for, what some have said, was a nervous breakdown. She says it was exhaustion. Then she was savaged for her film and album - both called Glitter. Then came the $30 million pay-off to leave her label EMI. Critics world-wide had written her off. But Mariah is most definitely back as she has been lined up to headline alongside Madonna and U2 at London's Live 8 concert on July 2. "I'm so thrilled to be taking part - it's an honour to even be asked. I have African-American heritage so it's a cause that's close to my heart. "To create awareness is important to me and I know that Bob Geldof is making such an effort to make this an impactful event to inspire people. It's going to be a great day." After a period in the pop wilderness, Mariah's new album Emancipation Of Mimi has added to her tally of over 150 million singles and albums sold and spawned her 16th US number one - confirming her status as the biggest-selling female artist ever. But she insists her happiness has little to do with silencing the critics, who claimed the lukewarm reception to her previous albums - 2002's Charmbracelet and the soundtrack to the box-office flop Glitter - marked the end of her reign at the top. "Charmbracelet sold three million albums and for me that's not a flop. "When I was working on Charmbracelet my father passed away - it was a difficult time. "But I had to go through those moments that weren't the happiest times 'cos they got me to this. "At this moment, I'm in a good place - it's a new chapter in my life." As she fusses over my fluid intake ("Can I get you some lemonade?) Mariah describes a typical day in her new chapter. "If we're doing a TV show I have to get up earlier than I would choose! "Then it's the whole 'hurry up and wait' situation - you sit in a crowded dressing room for hours, then do the show, and if there's something the next day I come home and get right in bed to rest my voice. "I've got five humidifiers by my bed - I zone out and try not talk too much. It's very boring! "My ideal day would be spent on a Caribbean island with friends. Some tropical drinks, massages, swimming and, of course, we'd have to have Jack with us." Jack is the current love of Mariah's life. A lively Jack Russell who boasts his own fan site and a Japanese admirer who wears a dog costume in his honour. "She's very devoted," Mariah laughs, before deciding that Jack is ready for his big reveal. "He hasn't had his make-up done though," she jokes. "I think this will be his first interview." Seconds later Mariah re-enters the room with her beloved mutt leaping up and down, trying to snatch a saliva-covered toy from her manicured hand. As Jack dashes out in search of a gecko ("he just loves those lizards"), the conversation turns to Mariah's growing affinity with urban music. "It's a gradual evolution. It was a side of me that was stifled by the people in control of my early career." People like Tommy Mottola, her controlling former husband and manager, I offer? Mariah laughs: "If I insisted on doing something and it didn't work, they'd be like 'you see what happens when you listen to your instincts'. "There were a lot of mind games that went on." What about the wholesome image that was cultivated for her back then? "When I started I was in agreement that we didn't want to go too sexy and take the focus off me as a singer. But five years later I was like: 'Can we maybe do the hair straight? Show a little skin? This turtle-neck's about to consume my head! "When I left that crew of people I had my rebellious stage - any time I could throw on my bikini and take a picture I was like 'woah!' - doing the opposite of everything they tried to force me to do." Mariah says she's now found a happy medium where her image is concerned - but admits she's still working through her long-standing issues. I ask her what last made her cry and after a long pause, her eyes moisten. "A family situation. It was recent and I don't know if it's sorted out. "I still see therapists - I think it's good to figure out a way to handle situations rather than letting your emotions get the better of you." Her troubled childhood - in which her parents divorced when she was three, and her inter-racial heritage caused problems for her at school - along with a turbulent relationship history, have stifled her own maternal urges. "Do I want to have kids? That's funny, Snoop Dogg was asking me that yesterday. It's something I'd have to think about carefully. "It's scary and I think a lot of apprehension also comes from trying to find the right person. I'd want to make sure that I didn't make a mistake again - I feel bad about getting married to Tommy. I figured if I got married, maybe Tommy would lighten up, but it was the wrong thing to do. I'd only get married again if I decided to have kids." The one subject Mariah is coy about is her love life. "I'd love to talk about it but I can't," she says before conceding that fame is a hindrance to finding Mr Right. "It's a bizarre existence. And I've never bought into it - if I'm being interviewed I have to sit here and talk about myself but if I'm meeting a guy in a social situation, it's much nicer when they have other stuff to talk about. "Most of my friends aren't in the public eye. It's important to have 'real' people around you." Highest on her potential-mate checklist is a sense of humour - "With my life you have to be able to laugh!" - followed by a good character and generosity. "I love baubles. A breakfast bauble, a lunch bauble - a girl's best friend!" With that, Mariah's publicist says she's running late for another meeting and asks if she minds having her picture taken. "But I look like I weigh 80 million pounds in this outfit," she laughs. Six snaps later and Mariah - alleged uber-diva incapable of functioning without an 80-strong entourage - lets me pick the photos. She then thanks me for my time and apologises for her timekeeping. | Mariah in Spain in July
Yesterday, I posted the Contactmusic article reporting that Mariah will stay on a yacht in the Mediterranean a whole month after the Live 8 in London and may eventually perform at a club in Ibiza. Today, MariahConnection reports that according to Universal Music Spain, Mariah will be performing in July in Spain and the location has not been confirmed yet, it might be either dance capital Ibiza or Barcelona. Yet the date hasn’t been announced and Universal Music Spain doesn’t have anything to do with Mariah’s visit this time, but a private promoter. So she might come just to perform in a club. A texting lottery for tickets to London's star-studded Live 8 charity concert opened on Monday with hundreds of thousands expected to spend up to 20 million pounds competing for the chance to attend the July 2 event. Performers expected at the Hyde Park show include Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Elton John, Madonna, Paul McCartney, REM, Scissor Sisters, Sting, Robbie Williams and U2. Four other concerts are being held on the same day across Europe and in the United States under plans announced last week by charity rocker Bob Geldof to pressure world leaders into eradicating African poverty. Geldof has called for one million people to march through Edinburgh four days later when leaders of the world's richest nations meet at the G8 summit at Gleneagles, some 40 miles to the northwest. To win tickets, entrants have to text the answer -- A, B or C -- to a simple question to telephone number 84599 by midnight on June 12. The question is "What city is the forthcoming G8 summit being held near this July? A) Berlin B) Moscow C) Edinburgh." People can enter as many times as they like to increase their chances of winning tickets, at a cost of 1.50 pounds plus standard texting charges for each entry. spring gala
It was surely something important that kept Mariah Carey from the Fresh Air Fund’s spring gala, because she’s a staunch supporter of the organization, and for the past several years has been a fixture at the annual benefit. Oscar-winner Jennifer Connelly, Soprano James Gandolfini and host Carson Daly kept the celeb quotient high. Vin Diesel, fresh off his super-dad "Pacifier" role, made a rare appearance to support the fund, and the kids, of course. The stench of horse manure that permeated the Central Park air outside Tavern on the Green had everyone tittering about the irony of a “Fresh Air” gala, but hey, the non-profit sends city kids to the country, so they may as well get used to it, right? | A complete and total mess?
Well, today I tried to order tickets for Mariah's concert in Bonn. The given numbers were not accessible from Belgium, so I needed to search numbers which I could access. Guys, you can call 0049 228 9171 431 (432). Unfortunately the people there didn't speak very well English, only a few words, but were very, very nice and really tried their best to find someone who spoke fluent English and finally, they found one .
Here are the details: The concert will take place on July the 12th., starting at 19h00, you may enter at 17h00. The concert is open air but under a tent, it has a 7000 people capacity. The price is around 70 Euro per ticket. Until now, it's all good, but wait, there's more.... They don't know for sure if Mariah will be the only performer.... They don't think, it will be only Mariah, as the concert is too long (19h00 to 22h00) as it's not part of a Tour. There are no seating places, but only standing places..... (when will the promoters think to people who can't stand for hours?  )
When I asked if you would be able to see well Mariah from the back of the tent, they said that usually there are big screens, and you can always look at the screens... great, 70 Euro to look at a screen .
Well, don't blame Mariah for it, it's the promoter who made this mess. So, you see it's a complete and total mess .

By Adam Sherwin Black musicians have attacked the Live 8 organisers for unveiling a “hideously white” line-up of artists for the July concert in Hyde Park. The 22 artists so far confirmed are white, with the exception of Mariah Carey, who has Venezuelan, Irish and African-American ethnicity. Bob Geldof has appealed to leading British black stars to perform at the London show, but the organisers admitted that they have struggled to find Afro-Caribbean acts with sufficient appeal for a global viewing audience. The Live 8 line-up boasts white superstars who have appropriated black musical styles, including Sting, Madonna and Joss Stone, but black artists, including Jamelia, Beverley Knight, Ms Dynamite, Dizzee Rascal, Lemar and Estelle, were not included. Jamelia, the Birmingham R&B star, has been an active supporter of the Make Poverty History campaign. She will be six months’ pregnant when the concert takes place, but a spokesman said: “If Jamelia were approached, I’m sure she would like to play some part in the event.” Black Information Link, a London-based campaigning organisation, accused the organisers of “handpicking a hideously white line-up to perform in a concert to highlight African poverty”. The organisation quoted Patrick Augustus, musician and author of the BBC Two Babyfather drama, who said: “We are being totally excluded. The organisers need to engage British, African and Jamaican artists who have been dealing with these subjects for a while.” Justin Onyeka, entertainment editor at black weekly newspaper the New Nation, said: “It was the same problem 20 years ago, when major black artists were backing singers to other acts. It’s time they learnt from previous experience.” A spokesman for the organisers said: “We still have a number of artists to put on the bill. We have approached a number of black British artists and some turned us down.” Because the London concert is free, the organisers are reliant on booking the biggest names who will guarantee sponsors and international broadcasters. Organisers say privately that there are not sufficient British black artists who can deliver ticket requests in volume and meet the expectations of a global audience of two billion. But maybe this hint of obsolescence has become part of the charm: these three brash newcomers have aged into stubborn veterans, and their rhymes remind listeners of an older and slightly rougher New York. You can hear hints of this history on the "We Belong Together" remix, in which Jadakiss and Styles P. join Ms. Carey for the kind of party where bad faith drowns in good times, where mismatches suddenly make sense. Now her German fans can also see her live and in color. Here are the dates: July 09 - Karlsruhe July 12 - Bonn Now that would be great news but so far no one but MTV comes up with this information. So far there's no information from the German label, we only know they planned to get Mariah to Germany in July. The date in Karlsruhe is said to be a performance next to the "Tour de France", which goes through the city the same day. Rumors say the concert in Bonn will be an open air show. Earlier in the day Carey had caused some consternation among onlookers outside NK Hall by delaying her Red Carpet arrival by more than an hour. When she finally reached the press room after the show she was keen to emphasize how important it was to perform for MTV and for her Japanese fans, who she said had been so supportive of her career. "It's always fun performing here, but tonight was very special. The song 'We Belong Together' is really special to me and you know just going through a lot of things over the last few years and having this song be like such a moment in my life and then being here in Japan, it was really nice," said Carey who sang "We Belong Together" during the show. "Somebody told me how many times I've come to Japan and it's 16 times. The ironic thing about that is that 'We Belong Together' is my 16th No. 1 so [when I was told] it was a great celebratory moment and then we got right on the plane to Japan." The BBC maybe televising the Live 8 next month, but AOL has stepped in to offer a live webcast of the concerts in London, Philadelphia, Paris, Rome and Berlin on 2 July for free. The Internet service provider, who is the exclusive LIVE 8 online partner, will hope to bring together a worldwide audience for the only complete broadcast of all of the LIVE 8 concerts, for free, live and on demand. AOL has also said that the concerts will be available online for six weeks after the event in case you can’t get to a computer on the day. AOL will also host special blogs from each city where concerts take place, along with a news and information service leading up to the event.
