A lot of us, Mariah fans, know Lois Castillo, Mariah's professional look-a-like, through pictures on the net. Due to a special circumstance, I had the opportunity to talk (by e-mail
)
to Lois, and I discovered that in addition of beeing look-a-like, she's
also a very big fan and a kind and funny person. Lois kindly answered
a few questions for Heroes of Mariah.
Heroes of Mariah: How did you decide to be a professional look-a-like?
Lois Castillo: My husband encouraged me to send a photo out to a lookalike agency, after he saw Mariah performing on the TV in November of 2000.
Heroes: Since how long are you a professional look-a-like?
Lois: It's been about two years now.
Heroes: Were you fan of Mariah before you became a professional look-a-like or did you became fan after?
Lois: I was a fan before I became a professional lookalike. I first became aware of Mariah in 1995 while I was at work. People would call me Mariah instead of calling me by my own name. I was like " Who is Mariah?" LOL So a girlfriend called me up at home one day, and told me to turn the TV on MTV RIGHT NOW! Mariah was on singing Fantasy, the strange thing was.. that she was wearing a flannel shirt ( which I was partial to wearing at the time) and her hairstyle and color was the same as mine.. so I could see where people would think we looked alike. It was still a little strange. But, I didn't even think about trying to be a professional lookalike back then.
Heroes: Have you already met Mariah?
Lois: No, I haven't maybe one day. I bought tickets to see her in concert for the Rainbow tour when she came to Atlanta. She was incredible!
Heroes: When you make photo shoots, does existing Mariah pictures inspire you?
Lois: If I am doing a photoshoot to use as promotional photos on my lookalike page. I will use Mariah's pics to get an idea of how she has her makeup,hair and clothing. My Modeling page is seperate it's me being me... :)
Heroes: What is your favorite Mariah song?
Lois: There are quite a few.. I love Heartbreaker, Hero and My All.
Heroes: What do you think of Charmbracelet?
Lois: I LOVE Charmbracelet! I went out on the 3rd of December to buy my copy. There are so many potential #1's on that album, I love I Only Wanted.
Heroes: What is the craziest thing you ever did?
Lois: It would actually have to be.. being a lookalike, it's so out of character for me, as I am a quiet person, and pretty shy around people. My friends know that I am very much a homebody, So for me to switch over to "Mariah Mode" and transform into this famous person, it's quite a difference.
