Mariah gives for "Brandon Center"
This annual fundraiser for Brandon Center, a shelter for battered or homeless women and their children, is Denver's most anticipated fashionista fest - not just for the European and American couture on the runway - but for all the peacock peeps who competitively dress for the event. Added to this year's show is a silent auction, which Martinez hopes will tip the take over the $100,000 mark for the Volunteers of America charity. "All my vendors have participated in the silent auction," Martinez said. "We have bags from Stella McCartney, Elton John tickets, a trip to Mexico; even Mariah Carey is sending us a big basket with her CDs and signed posters." "Tennessee" update: It starts in December
The shooting of "Tennessee" will start in December. Also, here are some more details of the story: The two brothers were abused when they were kids and run away from Tennessee to escape from their abusive father. Ten years later, the younger of the two brothers discovers he has cancer. Accompagned by his brother, he has to go back to his dad for a bone marrow transplant, during the travel they meet Crystal who wants to be a country western singer. The girl has an abusive husband who don't want her to accomplish her dream and orders her to stay as she's his wife and needs to obey. They run away all three together to Tennessee, her to Nashville to be a country singer, but she can't sing and that's the irony of Mariah because Mariah can sing certainly, and the boys to find a cure for the cancer. As I previously reported, the end is sad but not what we expect. Source: Aaron Woodley and Lee Daniels Oops, I just saw this Aaron Woodley updated his website with the following: "After several delays, Tennessee will finally commence principal photography this December, 2006" Posted on November the 24th. |
Brooke is not Mariah, not even Paris Hilton
You've probably all heard Brooke Hogan's single "About Us" feat. Paul Wall which is a hit on radios and in clubs right now (at least in Europe). What's funny (sorry Brooke) is that Darryl Sterdan from The Winnipeg Sun made a review of her album in which he writes: "Her voice is so thin, undisciplined and weak that she makes Paris Hilton sound like Mariah Carey" Posted on November the 24th. |

And a CD of Christmas tunes. This year's edition also has a bonus disc — "Cricket on the Hearth" (1967). And it's another good one. I Want for Christmas is You'' is considered a standard
"Research showed that new listeners who found the station in December because of the Christmas music stayed with it in January, when it returned to ``soft rock, less talk'' playing the likes of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. Ms. Carey, by the way, has the last new Christmas song to make it onto the station's playlist. Mariah among the few celebrities who keep
their charity work low key
Controversial celebrities exploit charity work as a way to buff up an image, or perhaps even for tax purposes. Stars are committing far more than a donation and cameo appearances at annual charity galas as part of their philanthropic work. For celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio, fame is an influential tool that can actually shape policy. Celebrities, unlike average Joes, get their phone calls returned. Politicians want to be photographed with them. For some stars, that kind of access and face time can and should be exploited. ""In my early 20s, I was fighting with myself," Angelina Jolie told Forbes back in June. "Now, I take that punk in me to Washington, and I fight for something important." The paragon of celebrity activism is Bono, the U2 front man who is rarely photographed without his trademark sunglasses. (Bono is a partner in the company that owns 40% of Forbes Media.) The superstar's fervent activism on behalf of debt relief for African nations and his efforts to raise awareness about the uncontrolled spread of AIDS there, and what he claims are unfair trade rules, have led to meetings with world leaders like President George W. Bush, U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul H. O'Neill and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. The Nobel Peace Prize nominee, named by Time magazine last year as its Person of the Year and rumored to have been seriously considered for the position of World Bank president, is credited as being instrumental in the G-8's recent decision to forgive more than $40 billion of debt owed by 18 countries, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa. Celebrity interest in Africa has become something of a cliché these days, thanks to over-hyped events like Madonna's adoption of a child from Malawi. But that hasn't stopped celebrity activist George Clooney from pressing his case concerning the crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan. In April, he headlined a "Save Darfur" rally in Washington, D.C., shortly after he returned from a trip there, in which he had secretly recorded footage that could be used to document genocide. His celebrity clout earned him a spot alongside Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel before the United Nations Security Council in September, to appeal for intervention in the troubled region. Some celebrities keep their charity work low key. Mariah Carey, for example, is a longtime supporter of the Fresh Air Fund and founded Camp Mariah in 1994, which underwrites summer camp for 300 boys and girls. But Carey doesn't bring it up unless asked. Last year, rapper 50 Cent teamed up with beverage maker Glaceau (in which he owns a stake) to promote the issue of childhood obesity. But odds are good you won't hear about that in any of his shoot-'em-up lyrics. The converse of discreet activism might be best characterized by actor Sean Penn, who is vociferous in his campaign against the war in Iraq. The Oscar winner shelled out $56,000 in 2002 for a full-page ad in the Washington Post deriding Bush's policy in Iraq. Penn accused Bush of violating democratic principles there "through a blood-lined sense of entitlement." He also earned some scorn when he covered the Iranian elections for the San Francisco Chronicle last year. No matter, since his essay was the paper's most widely read story of the year. Perhaps the most talked-about activist this year
may be Michael J. Fox, whose advocacy of stem-cell research became national
news after conservative talkmeister Rush Limbaugh accused the Emmy-winning
actor of hamming up his Parkinson's Disease symptoms in ads for pro-stem-cell
candidates in the latest Congressional elections. (Limbaugh later apologized.)
To be sure, Fox got the last laugh, logging scores of interviews on the
stem-cell issue right before election day.

For those who are interested in the technical
part of the Tour
Hollywood-based XL Video selected Barco LED, projection and image processing equipment as the centerpiece of Mariah Carey’s "The Adventures of Mimi" tour. Barco gear included four movable LED screens composed of ILITE 10 tiles, and thousands of Barco MIPIX modules for the stage’s two architectural pieces (a huge “M” that framed the stage, plus a flying “O” ring that masked the smallest ILITE screen). To complete the Barco equipment array, twin ENCORE Video Processors provided 12 layers of HD video that could be routed to any LED wall or projection screen. However, in this unique concert configuration, the standard ENCORE Controller was replaced by a custom interface designed by Portland-based Control Freak Systems. Using DMX protocol, ENCORE’s image processing tools and all individual video layers can be assigned to any dimmer on the GrandMA console. With the same ease as fading up a light, the LD can size, position, color correct and fade any layer, and perform completely synchronous video-plus-lighting moves. Mariah honoree at next year's LIMHOF Induction
Awards (part2)
On October the 13th. I posted that Mariah would be among the celebrities in next year's Long Island Hall of Fame and I was right Mariah is now officially listed on the LIMHOF site in the "2007 Inductees" section. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is dedicated to the idea that the Long Island musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. It is a place intended to inspire, in each person, the desire to explore and celebrate music in all its forms. It will be the home of Long Island’s musical history, and a starting point for its future, and a place where the music community will find the support, resources and leadership necessary to aid them in that exploration. The goal is to create an environment that inspires, entertains, educates, and engages every visitor in the creative process. This first group of 50 inductees, which will be honoring over the course of the next two years, represents Long Island’s long and diverse contributions to the world’s musical landscape. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has taken great care to celebrate within that "First 50" the Long Islanders who represent some of the extraordinary contributions Long Island has made to history of music, not only in America but throughout the world. It is our hope that these "First 50" will demonstrate that Long Island has been, and will continue to be, a consistent and never-ending wellspring of world class musical talent. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame defines Long Island by it's four counties Queens, Kings(Brooklyn), Nassau and Suffolk! Source: LIMHOF Posted on November the 19th. |

Jack on Mad TV
On the "claymation short" called "celebrity pets", you see Jack infront of the shower and Mariah is supposedly in the shower and she is singing and Jack starts talking: "Okay like here is the deal ... there are perks to being Mariah Carey's Dog... I dont have to fly first class with the other mutts, I have my own dog walker, and I eat at the finest restaurants at the table ... on top of the table... often directly from Mariahs mouth" and he's in front of the shower and Mariah is singing in the shower, hitting all these crazy high notes and he is like "Yeah you think I'd be used to this by now, but no, do you know how harsh this is to dogs ears!" Then Mariah hits this high note and he covers his ears and he is like "Son of a bitch" and blood flows from his ears Thanks to rhythmnrhyme for the info Posted on November the 19th. |

MySpace is sued by Universal Music
Universal Music Group sued MySpace.com on Friday, alleging that the social networking site that bills itself as a source of "user generated" content instead trades on "user stolen" songs and music videos. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los
Angeles, described MySpace as a "vast virtual warehouse" of pirated works
from some of the company's best-known artists, including Mariah Carey,
Diana Krall and U2. Universal claims that "no intellectual property is
safe" from the alleged copyright infringement, even unreleased albums such
as Jay-Z's "Kingdom Come."
In a written response, MySpace said it did not "induce, encourage or condone" copyright violation in any way. Indeed, on Friday it announced a new tool to make it easier and faster for content holders to remove unauthorized content from the site. "MySpace provides an extraordinary promotion platform
for artists — from major labels to independent acts — while respecting
their copyrights," a company spokeswoman said. "We have been keeping [Universal
Music] closely apprised of our industry-leading efforts to protect creators'
rights. It's unfortunate they decided to file this unnecessary and meritless
litigation."

One Sweet Day
One Sweet Day, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men: This is the biggest hit for both Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. I think it did well because they sang it with all their hearts. The lyrics were real to them as they wrote them with someone in mind. Dedicated both to Carey’s hero – Def Leppard’s guitarist Steve Clark who died in 1991 and Boyz II Men’s manager who was murdered while they were on tour – One Sweet Day is widely considered to be the most successful single of the 1990s in the United States. You've been warned!!!!! RIAA will uses
Microsoft wireless capabilities to trap you
This week Microsoft launched the much anticipated Zune and the world trembled to see if finally a new device could take on the Apple iPod. The real excitement according to the buzz is that Microsoft has built in wireless capabilities so that two Zunes can communicate with each other and music can be passed between devices. If you are going to enable wireless communication, viruses can be created that say for example, download the entire Mariah Carey catalog on to some unsuspecting listener’s device and then it dials up the RIAA and gives them your home address and a detailed listing of what’s on your device and how you got it. Wanna adopt Mariah????
Cat of the Week: Mariah Friends of Ferals is highlighting "Mariah" as their Cat of the Week. Mariah is a lovely brown tabby and white charming female shorthair kitten, about four month old. Her bold stripes, white paws, and yellow eyes unusually marked with black and white rims make her very beautiful, and she knows it! She was found abandoned, tiny and wandering alone, thin and needy. With good food and loving care, she has blossomed into a real charmer, a talker and a diva, hence her name, Mariah Carey! She loves people and is loving and affectionate, with an enthusiastic purr. She is all kitten and loves to get into things, like helping you sweep the floor. As with all Friends of Ferals cats for adoption, Mariah is spayed, and has had shots and tests. Mariah featured in Who’s Who 2007 edition
Who’s Who in Ireland has become the definitive list of the country’s most influential people and was last updated in 1999. But there is no doubt the latest version of the book throws up a few unusual choices for inclusion. Oscar winner Robert De Niro gets a mention because he is a second generation Irish-American. And other surprise additions in the Irish abroad section are socialite Paris Hilton, actor George Clooney and singer Mariah Carey. Clooney is described as third generation Irish with ancestors in Sligo, while Carey, whose mother was an Irish opera singer is second-generation Irish. Socialite Hilton is fourth-generation Irish American because her paternal grandmother had Irish relations. Source: The Irish Post (All rights reserved) (extract) Posted on November the 15th. |

Beyonce recently shocked organizers of a British concert with a string of ridiculous diva-like demands and a list of items she needed to have with her in the dressing room. An unlimited supply of Pepsi and a two-man "love seat" were just a few of the extravagant luxuries the fashionable singer requested before her performance at the BBC Chart Show Live in Brighton on Sunday. Beyonce stunned organizers even more when she demanded her dressing room to be heated at exactly 78 F to maintain her voice. A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Beyonce wants to make sure her vocal chords are in tip-top condition so she needs the temperature to be just right." Among the other items requested by the diva were boxes of Honeynut Cheerios cereal and a supply of turkey sandwiches. Despite her flawless performance later that night, Beyonce failed to impress her British fans with her geographical knowledge. As she stepped on stage in the seaside town, she told the adoring crowd, "It's great to be back in London!" when in fact the capital was 50 miles away. What Mariah sang at Joe Torre Safe at Home
Gala
It is rumored by fans waiting outside the event that Mariah sang "We Belong Together", (and no, don't search any sense or message, after all it's Mariah's smash hit). I guess we will never know for sure, except from someone who attended the gala. Posted on November the 13th. |
Mariah signed the Hilton Harmony Piano
The Hilton Harmony Piano was launched at the GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles, before being sent on a road tour. The piano is decorated with more than 75 signatures collected in the name of music education. Mariah is among the artists who have signed. The grand piano is in the midst of a year-long, eight-city U.S. tour, stopping at Hilton properties in San Francisco, Austin, Memphis, Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles. Hilton is donating $1,000 to the GRAMMY Foundation in support of music education for each artist who signs the piano. On the road, the goal will be the same—to get musicians to play a little tune on the instrument and add their names to the signatures. At the end of the tour, the piano will be auctioned off at next year’s GRAMMY Awards show, with proceeds going to the GRAMMY Foundation. Mariah's signature is located on the top panel of the piano. Surrounding it are the signatures of Herbie Hancock, Ellen DeGeneres, and Queen Latifah. Below are photos of Mariah's signature and the piano. The truth behind Mariah's tumble and the Elizabeth
Arden fragrance in the works
Remember, end September I reported Norm Clarke for The Review Journal said Mariah took a bad tumble in her hotel at the MGM Grand, it was even all over the hotel among the staff. Well, Norm Clarke exaggerated..... Here's what really happened, Mariah herself told it to a Las Vegas journalist: " I simply accidentally walked into a table leg while I was in business meetings with the Elizabeth Arden people, I banged my leg and although it hurt for a while it didn’t interfere with my dancing or the shows. I have to be less clumsy next time,” she laughed. Posted on November the 11th. |
Still no pics of Mariah at yesterday's"Joe
Torre Safe At Home" Gala
Apparently, photographers weren't interested (until now) to publish pictures of Mariah arriving at the gala or inside. As most of them were sport reporters, they were more interested in sport celebrities. Maybe we will have the chance to see some pictures later. However for Derek Jeter fans (female and male), pictures of him are up at WireImage. Posted on November the 11th. |

Mariah Carey sues concert promoter for axed
Hong Kong show
Mariah Carey's production company has filed a one million dollar lawsuit against an Asian-based concert promoter for unpaid fees and reimbursements for expenses related to a cancelled Hong Kong show. The suit alleges that the American pop diva was "greatly looking forward" to performing in the territory, but was forced to cancel the show when promoter ONE Group Investments Private Limited "breached its contractual obligations". "Regretfully, Ms Carey's production company has been forced to bring legal action to vindicate its rights," the company's Los Angeles-based lawyers Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher said in a statement. "This is an open-and-shut case for Mariah's company and we are confident that the company will prevail," said the singer's attorney, Orin Snyder. ONE Group's chief executive Adrian Hobbs hit back. "We received no reply to get our money back and we would love for the matter to go to court and the facts (to) come out and clearly she had savings by not coming," Hobbs said in an e-mail reply to AFP. He did not say whether he had taken any legal action. He said: "We would not presume to tell the court an outcome. This is a matter for the court, not arrogant assumptions... ONE Group is confident that we would prevail and they would be ordered to return money paid." Carey's concert was cancelled two days before it was due to take place on October 28 after her management company, Handprint Entertainment, and ONE Group pulled the plug, with each blaming the other for mishandling the event. The promoter blamed poor ticket sales -- claiming that just 4,000 of at least 10,000 had been sold -- and also Handprint's specific last-minute "wholly unreasonable" demands. Handprint at the time blamed One Group for failing to pay outstanding production and artists' fees. Carey had been booked to play on a harbourside site that hosts occasional outdoor events. Production crews had already begun building the stage when the announcement came. Carey's cancellation follows the axing of a show
by British pop singer Robbie Williams on November 10 due to poor health.

While checking all the Mariah related news

"The Adventures of The Fur Coat"
....... ok, it's not funny

The fur story made it in Russian press
Mariah Carey rejects fur coats from Russian tycoon Lately a Russian tycoon has gone through a bit of embarrassment. He had always been a great fan of Mariah Carey. She has a strong voice and a stunning body. The rich Russian was clearly trying to impress his favorite artist big time. He learned from experience that a fur coat would make the best present. A couple of fur coats would make a present. At least his female compatriots kept telling him about their fur coat dreams. Any woman would love to feel the soft touch of a fur coat wrapping around her shoulders. And it does not really matter what that fur coat is made from. Of course, the statement does not apply to pampered stars. According to different sources, the oligarch chose from two to eight fine fur coats worth around 5,000 pounds. The rich man was confident that the girl would be immensely grateful to him for the present. But the present had an opposite effect on the singer. She was reportedly shocked and dismayed when she got it. The businessman apparently knew nothing about her attitude towards animals. Mariah is deadly serious about them. Just like many other celebrities, she is a vocal advocate of animal rights. “The fur item sent by that man really horrified Mariah,” said a source from the singer's inner circle. “They are not close friends though she believes the guy should have known better before doing things like that. Mariah had the furs sent to the New York office of PETA, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals,” said the source. Needless to say, the organization was pleased
to get a parcel from Ms. Carey. “We are very excited about such a generous
donation,” said a press secretary for PETA. According to him, members of
the organization will be touring the States and use the fur coats as exhibits
while lecturing teenagers on cruelty to animals.

Will the Bella Bear Co bears be included
in the swag bags given at the AMAs?
Jenny Woods, PETA Media Manager has replied to an email sent in by Mariah fan and PETA member, Jeremy regarding the "mink" teddy bears that will be handed out to the nominees, Mariah being one, at the American Music Awards. She wrote, "We are writing to the AMA organizers about this. We're also discussing which musicians will be best to contact to ask that they not accept the bears." "Mariah Carey holds a moral belief about the sanctity
of life, and will most likely be insulted by the gift, as will many of
the viewers and other faux-fur stars," Jeremy reported. You can read the
full context of Jeremy's report at Eureka

Lost in transit
Mariah Carey's bizarre attempt to keep a Mongolian yak herder warm this winter has failed. A Russian oligarch sent Carey two floor-length mink coats after she performed at his birthday earlier this year, but Carey, who doesn't wear fur, donated the coats to PETA. One was kept for protest purposes, but the second coat - sent to Mongolia - was lost by UPS en route. A rep for PETA told Page Six the shipping company will pay $7,500 for the lost coat, which "will buy a lot of paint!" - presumably to be thrown on American women wearing fur. Source: PageSix - Life Style Extra UK (All rights reserved) Heroes comment: Ok, there's something wrong here, first PETA says they gave the fur coats to some of Minneapolis’ neediest people on November the 2nd., now they say they kept one and sent another one (just the ones Mariah gave) to Mongolia. Hum, strange... and while PageSix and Life Style Extra UK only report these facts, a Los Angeles media has the need to trash Mariah and seems unaware of all Mariah's charity work Posted on November the 9th. |

Mariah was invited on Dionne Warwick's new
album but couldn't make it
Five-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick stopped in the Bay Area to promote her new CD, “My Friends and Me” -- which includes duets with Gladys Knight (joined for the first time since their Grammy smash “That’s What Friends Are For”); Olivia Newton-John, Mya, Gloria Estefan, Kelis, Cyndi Lauper, Reba McEntire, Wynonna Jud, Cheyenne Elliott, Lisa Tucker, Deborah Cox, Chante Moore, Angie Stone and Da Brat. A labor of love that was four years in the making, starting with letters requesting women to sing on the album. Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, and Mariah Carey were unable to coordinate their respective schedules with Ms. Warwick to appear on the album which was recorded the old fashioned way in Los Angeles, Ms. Warwick’s home, or by her going to a studio near to where her duet partner was. Mariah was in Orlando last Friday
PerezHilton.com reader Michelle had a run-in with Mariah this past weekend. Our Miami homegirl sends in this picture of Mimi with her adorable son, Vincent, and writes about her encounter with the sometimes diva-ish star. "We decided to get out of Miami for the weekend and head up to Orlando to do a little Disney. After a 4 hour drive in hellish traffic, we get to the Disney Yacht Club & Hotel at 11 PM and who is walking out with her entourage of 20 guys? Miss Mariah! So I woke my son up out of his sleep for a picture of his life (hence the sleepy face.... but everyone loves a Latin boy, right?) So I ask her on her way out if I can take a pic of her and her 20 body guards jump immediately and scream "No, Mariah isn't taking any photos tonight!" Expecting her to walk out behind them... she very SWEETLY stops... waits for my son and poses with him! She looked Flawless (and I usually think she's a fatty) and was just too nice. Her outfit & hair was for a 15 year old girl..but otherwise... she has a smokin' bod. A natural woman... not too fatty... not too skinny... great legs. Anyways... here's Vincent & Mariah from Friday night." Awwww, that's nice of Mimi. We like it when celebs aren't total fucktards!!! Source: Perez Hilton.com (All rights reserved) - Ricardo on our forum Heroes note: I edited some not so nice names, Mariah's name is Mariah or eventually Mimi, but nothing else!! By the way, it must have been really hard for Perez to post something nice about Mariah, if someone like Perez can post nice stuff about Mariah and finally recognize she's not the capricious diva the press like to describe, every media can do it, maybe he opened the doors to a responsible and smart journalism??? He's out to prove Mariah can act
Lee Daniels says he's excited that more people will be able to see his film "Shadowboxer," which had a limited theatrical release over the summer. Daniels' tale, featuring Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding Jr.as stepmother and stepson who are also contract killers and lovers, is out on DVD tomorrow. The Wynnefield native shot his directorial debut here in 2004. He's gearing up to begin production on "Tennessee," which stars Mariah Carey. He says Carey, widely dissed for her work in "Glitter," is "a survivor" who is going to prove her critics wrong. "The studios don't believe in her," says Daniels, who is producing the film. "They think I'm crazy for hiring her, but people said the same thing when I hired Halle Berry." Berry won an Academy Award for her role in "Monster's Ball," the first film Daniels produced. "In Touch" Germany probably made a mistake
Remember, Dennis from Butterfly-MC sent me the scan where the magazine says Ashton Kutcher once kissed Mariah. A very good observation was made by runtellthat on fomm, the magazine says: "a young singer, aspiring to become huge in the music business", but Mariah was already huge while Ashton was probably still in junior high. Also, 2Day FM's Hot30 with Lowie caught up with Nelly Furtado in Sydney the other day and Nelly Furtado talked about celebrities she's dated -- where she revealed she dated Ashton Kutcher many years ago: "Before he was really big," Nelly explained. "Yeah, we kissed like once or twice. It was good." Thanks to runtellthat for the info Posted on November the 5th. |

Eminem trashes Mariah during radio interview
When he wasn't making jokes about his drug use or complaining about listeners downloading music instead of buying it, Eminem opened up about his relationship with Mariah Carey last week during an interview on his Sirius Satellite Radio station, Shade 45. "Yes, me and Mariah did have a relationship for about a good six, seven months," said Em. "(But) it didn't work. I wasn't really into what she was into; our personalities collided. She's a diva, and I'm a little more regular, I guess." Em went on to blast Mariah for saying they never had a relationship, calling her words that start with the letters "b" and "c." "I can never deny her talent, but the fact that she denied we ever had something, that's bad." Ashton Kutcher once kissed Mariah
In Touch Germany published the following and Dennis was so kind to translate it: Who did Ashton kiss before he got famous? PETA to give away fur coats to the homeless

How did PETA get into the fur "business"? Mariah's "Pup Star" in the works!!!!!
Canine Couture Making the trend even hotter, celebs are actually doing the designing themselves. And who better to put out a line of Fido Fashion than the aptly named Snoop Dogg? The label—out in early 2007—includes toys, leashes, apparel and treats for dogs, all produced with Snoop’s laid-back, urban flair. Even diva Mariah Carey is making her foray into pet fashion with Pup Star, a line of threads inspired by her beloved Jack Russell. Her camp’s being tight-lipped about the whole project, but we predict designs with lots of glitter.
