new single
mcbg1 at FOMM talked to the administrator of the CoolClarity forum (the one which announced "Stay The Night" as the first single a few days ago), and this administrator got the confirmation from the Virgin Megastores release schedule that Mariah's new single will be commercially released in the UK on November 15th. The title was listed as TBA, so "Stay The Night" might not even be a single. It's just assumed to be, since it's been talked about so much. In responce to the numerous emails we have been getting from people wanting to know whats happening with the album in the UK, we decided to contact Universal UK and get an update. We were told that "currently the album is scheduled to be released sometime early next year" and that the release date could be pushed forward. Celebrities aim to influence their young fans By Chris Cornell In the late 1960s, the Baby Boomer generation experienced a surge in the participation of young people in the political process. The youth of that generation was unified by a draft for the Vietnam War and by the struggle for racial and sexual equality. In the face of supreme social upheaval and political unrest, 400,000 young people converged on a tiny New York farmtown to throw the most well-known three-day concert America has ever seen: Woodstock. Led by musical acts like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead and Santana, this music festival embodied the spirit of their generation's values of peace, love and social progress toward a better world. Similar to the 1960s youth movement, MTV created Rock the Vote to counter the inactivity of the 18-25 age group. Rock the Vote is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to raising voter awareness and to educating the youth on the issues surrounding the major elections. Celebrities and rock stars are also urging their young viewing public to get involved. Hip-hop entrepreneur Sean "P-Diddy" Combs is heading up another non-profit, non-partisan voter awareness drive called Citizen Change. The organization, which includes Ben Affleck, Mary J. Blige, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mariah Carey, has adopted the slogan "Vote or Die" to try to inspire citizens to make their voice heard. Porterfield said he believes celebrities are using their status nobly in the fight against inaction. "We see celebrities urging us to get involved and to vote, and I think that is making us more inclined to head to the polls." Rohrer said young people are more likely to respond to celebrity than politicians. "Celebrities are more exciting," he explained. "We see them more than we do any politician. Celebrities fill every media outlet that we're interested in, and politicians don't. They have a bigger influence on us because we pay more attention to them." For whatever reason, though, young people may be beginning to take notice. A recent study conducted at Harvard University showed that 62 percent of college students say they plan to vote in this election, compared with 50 percent with the same intentions in 2000. World Music Awards
Last year, Mariah was honoured by the Diamond Award. The Diamond Award was created to honour those incredibly successful recording artists who have sold over 100 million albums during their musical career. Some rumors are of course flying around that Mariah could be in Las Vegas to attend this year ceremony on September the 15th. I don't know if we have a new generation of fans flying around and spreading rumors, but this year we already got a lot of rumors of all sort. In any case, nothing can lead us to the conclusion of Mariah attending this ceremony, we don't even know if Mariah is in the US, or still in Capri to finish her upcoming album. So, as usual, wait and see .

Yesterday, the Belgian TV channel Jim TV showed Mariah in the show Celebrities Uncensored. They were talking about the restaurant "The Ivy" where a lot of celebrities goes and they showed Mariah leaving this restaurant probably around 1995, and a person quickly putted his hand on the camera, which explains why it was a short appearance. Fire Island nonstop whirlwind of sun, sand, parties By Gina Birch Like many of you, my traveling cohorts and I have been to New York City hundreds of times. But we rarely venture very far out of Manhattan. It is a long tradition for the rich and famous there to summer in the Hamptons. However, it is even more fashionable to score a place on the less commercial Fire Island. With the beautiful beaches in Southwest Florida, some might think it ludicrous to even consider setting foot on a "Northern beach." But we did — and it was fabulous. We had the beach to ourselves during the weekdays and there were plenty of available seats to belly up to the bars. Once the weekend hit, it was party central. The beaches were packed with people coming over from Manhattan and the bars were slammin'. We danced until the sun came up, at a bar the locals called "sip and twirl." We coined the nickname "slip and hurl." That's exactly what happens if you have too many of the signature planters punch drinks (a $9 rum punch). Someone apparently had one too many and mistook a member of our party for singer Mariah Carey. The news spread like wildfire that the diva was at low tea! She had on a short skirt and matching jacket, a low cut tank, chunky flip-flops, a hat pulled low on her forehead, dark shades, braided ponytails and giant hoop earrings. It was hard to tell what was really under all that so she played along, refusing autographs — but accepting drinks, of course. We are still laughing at that one! When it was first released as a single, Mariah Carey’s "Hero" became an instant inspirational classic. But since the tragic events of September 11, its impact has become even greater. It has re-emerged as one of the inspirational, heartfelt songs which have provided comfort and hope to many people during the terrorist crisis. "Hero" was written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff in 1992, and was originally conceived as a theme song for the movie, Hero (starring Dustin Hoffman), which would potentially be sung by Gloria Estefan. "I had been asked by Sony's soundtrack division to write and produce the end, title theme for Hero," recalled Afanasieff. "Soon after, when I was in New York working in the studio with Mariah, I suggested we try to write a song for this movie. During a studio break, I was tinkering at the piano, playing the notes that would become the piano intro to 'Hero.' Mariah liked what she heard, and we started writing the song, with the 'Hero' theme in mind. She sang, 'then a hero comes along.' She was truly inspired; the words just flowed out." It was during this writing session that Sony Music President and COO Tommy Mottola (who was Carey's fiance at the time) came into the studio and heard "Hero." "I told Tommy we were writing a song for this movie," said Afanasieff. "He said, 'Stop, this song is brilliant. We need to save this song for Mariah's album. We decided to keep it for ourselves, and we recorded it for her Music Box album. As for the Hero film, Luther Vandross ultimately wrote and recorded the end title song." Afanasieff produced "Hero" with Carey, and he performed all of the music tracks. "When I recorded the track, I tried to simulate an orchestral sound with my synthesizers," explained Afanasieff. "There's a huge, timpani roll, a swell of strings, and french horns, which were all done on keyboards. In the back of my mind, I thought we might have an orchestra re-create the string parts. However, when Mariah completed her vocals, she said the recording sounded fine just the way it was, and that we didn't need to bring in an orchestra." "Hero" was subsequently released as the second single from Music Box, and reached number one on the Billboard "Hot 100" chart on December 25, 1993. It stayed atop the chart for four weeks. Upon its initial release, "Hero" was quickly recognized as a unique, inspirational song. At her Madison Square Garden concert in mid-December 1993, Carey dedicated her performance of "Hero" to the victims and families of a tragic, Long Island train shooting which had occurred on December 7. She also donated proceeds from "Hero" to the victim's families. In 2001, Carey's performance of the song was a focal point of the New York telethon, America: A Tribute To Heroes. Over the years, "Hero" has been regarded as one of Carey's most significant and memorable recordings. "It has become a song which has given a lot of meaning to people in times of despair," said Afanasieff. "Mariah told me she has received thousands of letters from people who were moved and helped by the song. For kids who were messed up on drugs, or were contemplating suicide, the song helped give them hope and strength." In the wake of September 11 tragedies, the song's impact has risen to a new level. "The events of the world have resulted in certain songs [like "Hero"] being embraced by people." explained Afanasieff. "Following September 11, everyone involved has truly been a hero. This week "U Make Me Wanna" graduates from the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart to the main R&B singles chart with a debut of #75. Music producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have sold their Flyte Tyme Studios for $2.3 million US. Jam and Lewis, who have produced more No. 1 hits than anyone except Beatles producer George Martin, have moved their production business to Los Angeles. They have produced hits for Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men and the Spice Girls, among others. The deal for the 1,620-square-metre facility closed Sept. 1, said Brian Fogelberg, who represented Jam and Lewis' Flyte Tyme Productions. The buyer, Karl Bohn, is a prominent real estate developer who has been involved in a number of projects south of the Minnesota River. It's expected that Bohn will continue to use the Flyte Tyme building for producing music. The five-studio building has been on the market since early in the year. Fogelberg said Bohn was not among a small group originally targeted as potential buyers for the building. "We are very pleased with the results," Fogelberg said. | Twista Injured In Car Accident: Bodyguard

Rapper Twista was injured early Monday morning in a car accident that killed one of his bodyguards and seriously injured another passenger. The Chicago-based rapper, whose real name is Carl Mitchell, was riding in a van that crashed on Interstate 90 near Erie, Pennsylvania, at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday. The van was traveling from Syracuse, New York, to Chicago when it hit the median and rolled over several times, according to a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania State Police. All of the passengers in the van were ejected except the driver, who was the only one wearing a seat belt. Arthur Dixon, Twista's bodyguard and longtime friend, was killed in the single-vehicle accident. Renaldo Jones, another associate of Twista's, remains in stable condition at a local hospital. Twista and three other passengers were treated and released with minor injuries at St. Vincent's Health Center in Erie. The accident is still being investigated, although the police suspect that the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Twista's representatives declined to comment. | Latest update on the virus on Ezboard forums
Ok, so, the people from Ezboard are aware since yesterday that a virus is hiden in the pop-ups appearing on the forums. The problem is that they want more explanations about THE pop-up which contains this virus. The only solution they found is to let you be infected so you can tell them what's happen .
So far, there are two cases: 1.- You have a very good anti-virus and firewall which block the pop-ups and forums display. 2.- You have a medium or no protection and the virus enters in your PC without an alert. The virus is called "Bloodhound.Exploit.6" it's a Trojan Horse, click here if you want more details. If you want to leave comments to ask Ezboard to assume their responsabilities, click here. He hit big with production work for the likes of Twista, Jay-Z, Monica and Alicia Keys, but now Kanye West has revealed he plans to turn down any future artist keen for him to work his old-school influenced magic for them. Having established himself as a solo artist in his own right with the likes of All Falls Down and Through The Wire, Kanye, about to hit the singles chart with critically acclaimed new single Jesus Walks, is said to be keen to concentrate on his won material and avoid ‘diluting’ his distinctive sound, based around speeded up 70s soul samples. In recent months West’s name has been linked to a number of highly lucrative commercial projects for the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Backstreet Boys, but these now look unlikely. However, there is one mega-star Kanye has willingly spared studio time for. The super-producer, celebrating a record breaking 7 MOBO nominations this month, has recently completed work on at least one track for the new Mariah Carey album, due for release later this year. Shows of Sony Music artists will be sold in VCD format. With the same packing of the DVDs, the VCDs will be sold at a cheaper price with a digital audio and video quality, however they will not include extras, infos and interviews. The release of VCDs will start with international headings, the list includes Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin, Céline Dion, Jennifer Lopez . On April the 23rd. I launched the season 2 edition of the Moral contract - United Fans Against Piracy, I think it is time again to ask webmasters to take part. | More info on new album Japan edition
According to Universal Music Japan, the release date for the Japan edition of the new album (November 10th) is a definite date unless there is something big. There will not be a DVD with the album (in Japan, many artists adds a DVD to their album/single). "Misty Moon" was considered as a bonus track but things are getting subtle. Also, it has been decided that Mariah will come to Japan for promotion! But the dates haven't been decided yet.
