This rumor came up a while ago, now UK medias are speculating on the name of the artists who could play the part of Mariah in the Broadway musical of the singer's life. The 'Heartbreaker' singer has reportedly agreed for the stage show to go ahead and if Mariah doesn't star in it herself, names which come up are actresses Vanessa Hudgens and Eva Longoria or singer Leona Lewis. If Leona is chosen, she would portray Mariah's life from when she shot to fame at the age of 20, when she went on to become the first artist to have her first five singles top the US Billboard 100 chart. Despite rumors, Mariah Carey is still not pregnant. In the last few days there have been more reports of light work out sessions, ultra sound tests, all kinds of things. There more reports of “booties” being knitted than Carey’s famous “booty” ever got. Alas, I am assured by those close to her that still, no baby is in sight. Carey and young hubby Nick Cannon have been on vacation in Aspen and St. Bart’s. But photographs of Carey, who hasn’t been shy about getting in front of the cameras, reveal still a flat stomach on a pretty well toned body. “It’s all still just rumors,” a Carey insider told me over the weekend. Of course, the light work out sessions could be because Carey is trying to get pregnant and just isn’t there yet. That would make sense. So again, don’t log on to the Tiffany baby registry
quite yet. Give Mariah some time!

The Long & Twisted Road... With Mariah What a storied history I have with Mariah Carey. In 13 years at Billboard, only a handful of anecdotes bear repeating... when Vanessa Williams proved face to face to be the bitch she now deliciously plays on "Ugly Betty"; when Clive Davis came after me, knives sharpened, for dissing Rod Stewart and Justin Timberlake (complete with a hand-signed letter that hangs at home); and digs at Mariah, actually credited, in part, for her temporary insanity in the New York Post. (click on the scan) (Heroes note: congrats dude, I bet you're proud huh???) 
In another time, Billboard indulged single reviews that were less than complementary. As singles reviews editor since 1998, my reputation was forged on delicious venom: If I loved a song, you got the sweetest embrace, but established artists that took a misstep were demonized. When Mariah flip-flopped to hip-hop, I responded with several less-than-flattering reviews. Meanwhile, Mariah was the first artist I had the pleasure of meeting when I started at Billboard. Around Thanksgiving 1995, my Billboard muse Larry Flick took me to her Madison Square Garden TV special taping, where we met her. It was magic. 
The photo below really tells the story here. After so many unkind reviews, Ayhan and I attended a Z100 concert and, with all-access credentials, squeezed into Mariah's dressing room—and eek, there she was with some guy named Randy Jackson, who, of course, is now the renowned "American Idol" judge. Mariah comes forth, I introduce myself and she announces, "I know who you are." Pause. I say, "Are you gonna hit me?" She laughs, and I launch into a diatribe about my reviews that, to this day, I'm convinced was inspired by angels. I say something to the effect of, "You know, I have followed your career since the beginning, so when you disappoint, I hold you to the highest standard. I expect nothing but the best, given what I know you're able to achieve." I meant it, too. Her response: "Really? Oh, thank you," with total sweetness." Then we posed for the pic here... After this, I found it pretty much impossible to ever again write a negative word, given Mariah's humility. Fortunately, she came back with "We Belong Together," rediscovering melody, making my job much easier...  
Now Sony has released "Mariah Carey: The Ballads" (above. left), an album I adore... Ah, the memories... the good times... the '90s... and then the third meeting with Lady M, with Kristina in 2007. Amen! Source: Chuck

The singer completed the outfit with a red puffa jacket, black jeans and designer sunglasses and was all smiles as she enjoyed some last minute shopping at a number of designer boutiques with husband Nick Cannon and her faithful dog Jack.

A big coup for a fashion designer is to have a celebrity wear his or her creations on the red carpet. And for an unknown designer, it could be the few seconds needed to launch a career. Julian Contreras of San Jose is hoping for just that after a sketch of a gown he created for Grammy-award singer Mariah Carey was selected by Carey as the grand prize winner in a contest that drew 4,023 entries. Contreras' sketch will be transformed into a dress and worn by Carey at an event early next year, said Ashley Futak, a spokeswoman for Brickfish, a social media marketing company that sponsored the contest. "Being a designer has always been my dream since I was 5 years old," said Contreras, 20, a Lincoln High School graduate and fashion student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. "I just can't believe I won." Contestants were asked to create a dress that would incorporate Carey's new fragrance, Luscious Pink, and the singer's signature butterfly logo. Contreras drew a form-fitting, mauve pink gown with an asymmetrical shoulder strap decorated with a sparkling pin. Carey last week raved about it on "Entertainment Tonight." "It's a really, really great design," she said, while pointing to the sketch on the show. "I love a one-shoulder and I love the brooch here and how it's drapey on the top." The grand prize means the Luscious Pink dress Contreras created will be made three times: once for the singer to wear, once for Contreras to keep in his own collection, and once as an auction item at a benefit for Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer awareness. "I wanted to design something that would show off her figure and enhance her curves," said Contreras, who still lives in San Jose. the US
As a promotion for "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets" album, Sony BMG Music Entertainment has created a Web site that allows you to record "Blue Christmas" as a duet with Presley, singing McBride's part from the album. The site, http://www.singwiththeking.com, provides a phone number and access code so you can belt out your lines over the phone. If you're pleased with the recording, you can send it in a Christmas ecard. "Someone in our digital area came up with the concept," said JJ Rosen, executive vice president of Sony BMG Music Entertainment's Commercial Music Group. "It fits the duets concept of the album so well." Because the campaign leans heavily on technology, Rosen said it brings Presley and his music to a younger generation. "We're always trying to keep the Elvis brand alive." The site launched Dec. 5 and has drawn 30,000 people from nine countries. It's scheduled to end sometime in January. The promotion has been successful enough that Sony plans a similar one for Mariah Carey's upcoming release "The Ballads" for Valentine's Day. Given Carey's vocal range, it could take some serious chops to keep up. "Dreamlover" anyone?

The next day, he took me on a helicopter ride around the Empire State Building as it was still lit up. He got down on one knee and proposed again - someone was filming us this time because I decided I wanted a record of this most perfect moment. But we told the camera guy it was all part of a video for my song "Love Story", as we'd decided that we didn't want anyone to know we were getting married. | Angry, disappointed, sad and even some happy....
Since yesterday, I received a lot of e-mails (I haven't finish reading them all) regarding the info about the Tour, or let's say the "no" Tour, many of you are angry, disappointed or sad, I even received e-mails from fans who are happy (believe it or not...). We know Mariah talked several times about a Tour, we know very recently (a month ago in the UK), she talked about her upcoming mammoth Tour, we know that in August, "Concerts West" was routing Mariah's upcoming Tour, we know Mariah's official site made a contest asking for your "Dream Concert" and that way giving hopes, we know the Luscious Pink dress was for her to wear on the Tour, we know all that... and still.... With all these hints, yesterday's info was like a cold shower. I understand the majority of the fans are disappointed, even more if you're not American, Canadian or Japanese (these ones got the Adventures Tour). Whatever the reason for not touring may be, pregnancy (still to be confirmed), problems with the label (still to be confirmed), recession (it's not the reason 'cause other artists go on tour), the ones who are happy (except for the pregnancy case) are ... hum, weird and the ones who stopped being a fan were maybe not real fans in the first place. Today, I was walking in the city center with all
the holiday season decorations and suddenly Christmas had a bitter taste.
You will not see the dancing banana today, 'cause I'm sad too, but if Mariah
is happy it's all that matters!

Spies in LA saw the songbird coming out of a well-known ob/gyn's office on North Crescent Boulevard, "clutching what looked like a sonogram and being greeted by her entourage with cheers. NAACP Holds Private Screening for Tennessee
Last night at the Laemmle Music Theater in Los Angeles, members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) were treated to a private screening of Tennessee, and with no less than Mariah gracing the event! Kyle gives us a recount of what went down at NAACP's Tennessee screening. "One of the CEOs for the NAACP spoke to us and gave us the rundown of what we should expect for the night. The theater was very small and intimate and there were only a few people so we had a chance to really see Mariah up close. The movie was about an hour and a half long, and Mariah's acting is superb! I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge fan, but she's come a long way since her role in Glitter. She really got into the character. There was a Q&A after the screening. Some
of the questions asked were directed to producer Lee Daniels and Mariah.
Lee said that Mariah was very warm and friendly and they had to fill her
up with Arby's everyday so that she'd gain the weight for the role in Tennessee.
I had asked Mariah and the director how they were able to keep the fans
and public at bay while filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico, because it
isn't everyday that Mariah Carey walks down the street in New Mexico. He
said that Mariah is just so loyal and sweet to her fans that at times it
became a problem and they had to remind everyone 'Hey, we need to finish
a movie.' Someone also asked how long it took for them to film the movie.
Lee said it only took 7 weeks, but the processing of actually getting to
the point of filming took years. They were also asked about their new film
Push, where Mariah plays a social worker and Lee Daniels directing it."

mess!!!!!
I'm not the only one shocked by last night's Grammy nominations, but as I'm too disgusted to write it all myself, I'll mention some extracts from the Fox article written by Roger Friedman: - Second big disaster: not a single nomination for Mariah Carey or anything from her “E=MC2” album. Not even a throwaway nod in R&B. Just an outright, across the board snub. What’s worse: they put Carey through the agony of participating in the Grammy live telecast last night and then giving her nothing! - Strange nominations: tracks from Paul McCartney
and Beyonce each came from unofficial albums, or side releases that are
generally unavailable or unknown.
- Of course, the big money is on Coldplay to just sweep everything and call it a day. Their album and title track, “Viva La Vida,” is the equivalent of U2 from a couple of years ago. And the value added of Coldplay wife Gwyneth Paltrow in the audience, being thanked by Chris Martin, etc. is incentive enough for the Grammy telecast. - Then there is the annual Kanye kerfuffle. He sampled a Daft Punk track called “Harder Better Stronger Faster” for his own track, called “Stronger” on his 2007 album, “Graduation.” That album was released in September 2007 and was eligible for last year’s Grammys. However: this year, the original Daft Punk track is nominated for Best Instrumental. According to amazon.com it was released on December 4, 2007 and was discontinued. It’s not available except maybe on a downloading service. - And there’s more. Beyonce is nominated for a track called “Me Myself I.” It wasn’t a single and it’s not from an album. It’s from the ITunes audio version of a DVD live concert called The Beyonce Experience. Again, are there are any rules anymore, or is this just a way to make sure Beyonce is on the show? - Of course, there may be more to the snubs than
meet the eye. In the cases of Alicia Keys and Mariah Carey, it could be
a punishment for appearing on the American Music Awards last month, and
accepting awards from them. There has long been an unwritten rule that
if an artist did anything with the AMAs, owned by Dick Clark Productions
and considered a minor rival, the Grammys wouldn’t allow you on their show.

Price cut on Grammy nomination show tickets The Grammy Awards’ spruced-up annual announcement of nominations on Wednesday night — no longer just a press conference, but a TV special and live performance from the Nokia Theatre downtown — boasts a lineup that appears to have a little something for everyone. Such marquee heavyweights as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Céline Dion, the Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, John Mayer and B.B. King will perform during the hour-long unveiling of this year’s nominees. (Winners will be announced Feb. 8.) But apparently everyone hasn’t ponied up the $100 a pop for each and every one of the tickets to the show that have been set aside for the public. So, a little more than 24 hours ahead of the big event, the Goldstar discount ticket website is now offering some marked-down ducats for $75. Following the hour-long CBS telecast (live to
the East Coast, tape-delayed for 9 p.m. broadcast here in the West), Mayer
will stick around and play for about an hour himself as part of festivities
surrounding the opening of the Grammy Museum, which will get proceeds from
the ticket sales.
