Billboard update
ABOUT 'FACE': Mariah Carey begins at the Hot 100's anchor spot, as "Up Out My Face," featuring Nicki Minaj, arrives at No. 100. Carey has now debuted at either the chart's first or last position five times, making three bows at No. 1 ("Fantasy," "One Sweet Day" and "Honey") and two at No. 100, where "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" opened in 2008. (Fittingly, Carey's contribution to the "2010 AT&T Team USA Soundtrack" is a new song entitled "100%").

"Up Out My Face" marks Carey's 42nd Hot 100 charted entry, lifting her past Barbra Streisand into a solo share of sixth place for most Hot 100 hits among women in the chart's archives.

Here is a look at the solo female artists who have made the most visits to the Hot 100, followed by the dates of their first charted songs:
73, Aretha Franklin (March 4, 1961)
56, Dionne Warwick (Dec. 8, 1962)
55, Madonna (Oct. 29, 1983)
53, Connie Francis (Dec. 2, 1957)
48, Brenda Lee (March 2, 1957)
42, Mariah Carey (June 2, 1990)
41, Barbra Streisand (April 4, 1964)
40, Diana Ross (April 25, 1970)
39, Janet Jackson (Dec. 18, 1982)
39, Whitney Houston (June 9, 1984)
39, Mary J. Blige (June 20, 1992)

On R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, "Up Out My Face" becomes Carey's 38th top 40 title, pushing 41-39.

Video: Patti Labelle on the perks of being Mariah Carey's Godmother
Patti Labelle appeared on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and talked about the perks of being Mariah Carey's godmother. According to Labelle, Carey regularly sends her pricey champagne and flowers, and the two often party together in the Bahamas.

"She sends me four bottles of Cristal ... and she sends me beautiful white flowers, like 100 or 200 flowers," Labelle said. "It's just beautiful."

Mariah finally making her chidren's book project a reality?
According to Nick, Mariah and him are developping a lot of stuffs together, mostly for MTV and chidren's books.
Will Mariah's project to write her book finally become reality?  You probably remember that in 2004, Mariah had planned a serie of illustrated children's books which would focus on a biracial orphan girl who goes on a journey of self-discovery, navigating difficulties and misunderstandings, making the world a better place.

Second concert in Chicago
For this second concert in Chicago on Valentines Day, many fans were disappointed, they were of course happy to see Mariah perform but they all (almost all) complain about a too short setlist and were really surprised Mariah left with no goodbye or encore.
They noticed the security was really tough/rude, not even allowing people to check their cellphones and of course no pictures or filming allowed, some people tried anyway and were escorted outside.

However, everyone, fans and other people, praise Mariah's voice!!!

New Heroes of Mariah contest: Win Tennessee DVDs
Tennessee is a really beautiful movie, very well directed by Aaron Woodley.  The colors are warm, sensitive dialogues, Mariah is really great and to me it's her best acting as of now. Ethan Peck (grandson of the legendary Gregory Peck) is also really great.

Carter (Adam Rothenberg) and his younger brother Ellis (Ethan Peck) embark on a journey from New Mexico to Tennessee to find their estranged father who's the only one who can save Ellis diagnosed with leukemia, by a bone marrow transplant. During the travel they meet Krystal (Mariah) who wants to be a country singer and tries to escape from an abusive husband. The end of the movie is sad but not what we expect.

To watch and watch again!

For this contest:
- You need to love Mariah as an actress
- You are not an impatient person who illegally watched the movie on the internet

Mariah Carey helps Cannon with new TV movie
Mariah Carey  has recorded backing vocals for the fictional band husband Nick Cannon has created for upcoming TV movie School Gyrls.
The singer also helped Cannon write songs for the teen trio in the film, but didn't want a part in the project, which debuts in America on 21 February (10).
Cannon tells TV Guide magazine, "She's all through it. Mariah actually helped me write the script... and if you listen closely, she also sings backup in the last song."

Chicago fans: Mariah may go at Underground Saturday!
Mr. Multitasking talks about his DJ gig at Underground and V-Day plans with wife Mariah Carey
Cannon, who lives in New York and L.A., estimates that he sleeps two hours a night. Three on a good night.

At 10 p.m. Saturday Cannon will DJ--name: DJ Sexyfingerz--for the third time at Underground ($20 cover; RSVP to rsvp@rockitranch.com). On his way from the Def Jam offices to the MTV building in Times Square, Cannon, 29, talked about his DJ skills and his Valentine’s Day weekend plans with his wife, who performs Saturday and Sunday at Chicago Theatre.

I’ll name a list of elements in a possible Valentine’s Day celebration. You tell me what you will or won’t be including: Fireplace. Bearskin rug. Chocolate sauce. Edible underwear. A donkey.
- Wow. None of those except maybe the chocolate sauce. [Laughs]

That’s the only one? No chance of the others?
- No donkeys! Unless we’re putting luggage on his back to walk to the cars with. But the donkey cannot be in the room.

What do you really have planned for Valentine’s Day this weekend? I saw you were shopping for sweets.
- Just really hangin’ out. Obviously we gonna be in the Chi. Just spending time with each other, spending that whole day just havin’ fun. We kind of cherish that time when we don’t have to do anything and don’t have to work, so that’s probably what it’ll be about.

What are some spots in Chicago you’re hoping to check out?
- I mean, probably mostly the hotel room. The Pier’s always a great place to go, so if it’s not too cold we might venture down there.

Last Valentine’s Day you guys started a fire in your hotel room.
- Yeah, she saved my life.

How did she put it out?
- There was a bunch of vases with water in it and roses and she just thought extremely fast, ripped all the roses out of the vases and just started throwing the water on the fire.

That must’ve been surreal.
- Yeah, I was just screamin’ like a little bitch while she was being the hero.

What did she say to you afterwards?
- I mean, nothin’. I was too busy giving her props for saving my life that she was just like, “I had to think fast.”

What can people expect from your DJ set at Underground Saturday?
- I like to bring the fun, you know what I mean. The hottest new records. I like to throw some stuff in there that’ll make people smile or giggle and stuff like that. It’ll be some throwback stuff, just keeping the BPM’s goin’, keeping people dancing.

Be honest: How many Mariah Carey songs do you put into a set?
- At least three. [Laughs] If she shows up it’ll probably be more. But she's got some bangers. “Obsessed” is a smash, the new “Up Out My Face” is a smash, and then the classic “Fantasy.” So I always gotta play that. I think every DJ plays those.

Do you expect that she’ll swing by after the show?
- You never know. It always depends how she’s feeling after the show. The most important thing is her voice, so we never going to jeopardize that. But sometimes if she knows I’m going to DJ she come in there and keep an eye on me.

I hear you and your wife are trying to conceive, which is awesome. Do you have any suggestions for setting the mood?
- [Laughs] Uh, not really. That’s funny that people just make stuff up like say we’re trying to conceive. That was news to me. I also heard I was adopting a Haitian kid too. Stuff like that is funny. We just leaving that type of stuff up to God and when the time is right.

Some articles are, like, you guys are hiding in a bunker just getting down to it.
- [Laughs] Yeah, that’s definitely buggin’ me out. People just make up stuff like that.

So that’s not the goal.
- Yeah, nah. We don’t need to try. When it’s right, it’ll be right.

What advice do you have for guys who are dating older women?
- Uh, don’t think about it. I’ve kind of always been a dude that was just attracted to people more mature than I was. You gotta be a person who understands a female if you goin’ to venture to someone who’s probably a little more mature than you. Guys already got so much goin’ up against us with women being smarter than us. So you gotta be ready for it.

So when you say “don’t think about it,” you mean most people shouldn’t do it?
- No, if you put too much thought into it you’re going to screw it up.

Because women are already five steps ahead of us.
- Exactly. So if you try to analyze it then you’re really going to set yourself up. So go with the flow, enjoy yourself. Age ain’t nothin’ but a number.

Nicki Minaj Loved Making 'Up Out My Face' Video With Mariah Carey
Nicki Minaj says she was so surprised that she got a call to work with Mariah Carey on the remix of "Up Out My Face" that she kept the collaboration very hush-hush.

"That one, I didn't believe until I was physically in the studio that I was doing with something with Mariah," the New York native told MTV News last week. "I didn't even tell anyone I shot a video with Mariah, because I didn't even believe. In the back of my mind, I felt like, 'This video is not gonna come out. There's no way I'm gonna do a video with Mariah Carey before I even put out my album.' Then, when it came out, I think it was the #1 video on YouTube in one day, something crazy like that. She's an icon, I've loved her since I was little, like 'Vision of Love,' 'Someday.' I was one of those little girls in the mirror singing her songs with my mother."

Much like her fellow Mariah Carey collaborator and good friend Gucci Mane, Minaj said the real Mariah was nothing like she imagined.

"When I met her, she was so funny and silly," Nicki recalled. "I thought when I was gonna work with Mariah, [she] was gonna be like this diva. But we were cracking jokes the whole day. She's a sweet, down-to-earth person."

Nicki and Mimi had their names written on two giant baby doll boxes in the video. In the Nick Cannon-directed clip, the two bust out and have a good time changing outfits and playing with men. The doll angle plays perfectly with Nicki's "black Barbie" persona.

"I think it was dope," Minaj said about the video. "A lot of times, more famous artists or more confident artists take from a younger artist but they'll never include you in that. I feel like she liked the whole doll thing and she wanted to do it with me. But she said that: She said, 'Everybody's gonna say "she's doing Nicki." But I told her, she's always had a doll persona, like all that 'doll baby' [stuff]. So it goes perfect with Barbie and we had fun. That's all that matters."

The remix will appear on Mariah's Angels Advocate remix LP, due on March 30.

Mariah IS featured in the Everybody Hurts video!
Many e-mails came in asking why Mariah wasn't featured in the Everybody Hurts video that hit the net yesterday.  She's not in it for the simple fact that that video is not the video for the charity single, it's the video advertising it as it was on sale yesterday.
As reported last week, the video is directed by Joseph Khan who already shot all the artists's parts, he's currently in Haiti to shoot the last footages for the video.

Just like in the US, Mariah receives not that great reviews for her Ottawa concert, but Mariah had a cold and at least the fans enjoyed the concert!!!

Sniffles, rather than sizzle, mark Mariah Carey's Ottawa debut
Superstar diva's voice still surprisingly strong

Mariah Carey made her performance debut in Ottawa last night in front of a smallish crowd of 2,900 at Scotiabank Place. Although she arrived on stage late, seemed to rush through songs and took breaks to conserve her energy, these were not simply attention-getting techniques from the famously difficult diva.

No, the superstar had a little cold, she informed us early in the evening, picked up from one of her dancers. It cut into her sleep, she added, "but here I am. The show must go on."

In a gold-and-sequined princess dress that showed off her ample cleavage, Carey made a fashionably late entrance dangling in a cocoon-like bundle that descended from the ceiling to the stage.

The full-length gown was torn away, revealing a short, leg-baring skirt as her breathy soprano fluttered into Butterfly, then darted from Shake It Off, Touch My Body and Fly Like a Bird.

Her voice was surprisingly strong, despite the sniffles, but there were backup singers and electronic effects enhancing her natural vocal power. A full band and a contingent of dancers accompanied Carey on stage, and she occasionally let them take over while she rested her voice and changed outfits.

"I'm not going to complain because I love everybody," Carey said, as if to remind herself not to complain. "No matter what you do, you can't make me hate you."

At one point, Carey played up her diva reputation with a tongue-in-cheek bit that involved calling her hair and make-up folks onto the stage for a touch-up.

It was evidently supposed to be playful and self-deprecating, but the sense of fun was dampened by her poker-face delivery, probably due to the fact that she repeats the gag every night.

Sipping something from a champagne glass (she said it was water, Carey seemed to come to life a bit later, and made a point of referring to her new line of champagne.

On the whole, though, Carey gave an uninspired performance -- one hopes her champagne isn't quite so flat.

Scotiabank Place review
Mariah Carey was at her diva-best at Scotiabank Place Saturday night, and not in a good way.

You would think that a star as big as Carey — 175 million records sold and a trunkload of Grammy awards — would have been a major event.

But fewer than 3,000 glammed-up, hardcore Carey worshippers even bothered to show up for her current Angel’s Advocate show, which is touring North America and getting mixed reviews.

Perhaps it was the price of tickets, which went as high as $175 a piece.

Ouch!

To be honest, after the show on Saturday night, I’d be surprised if she even got enough of an audience to fill the National Arts Centre, based on Carey’s performance on, and off stage.

Mariah is the goddess of Grammys, the Princess Di of the divas, as frail as she is fabulous. But when she sings, she turns into a soul-singing superhero, with a five-octave range that can still shatter crystal champagne glasses.

And last night, she did plenty of both.

I’ve never been to a concert before that was so much about the star, rather than the music. Celine Dion’s show here in 2009 had its narcissistic moments, but nothing on Carey’s scale.

All the self-centred diva-like antics might have been worthwhile if they were sincere but Carey’s struck me as all part of the show. And a bit of a lazy show at that.

The show started some 40 minutes late. Of course, all was forgiven the instant Carey finally made her entrance, and as grand an entrance as you would expect, with Carey suspended 15 metres in the air, hanging there like an angel, one with God-like cleavage in a dress that resembled a glass of champagne while the band played the Butterfly Intro and Daydream Interlude.

Then, it all seemed to go downhill from there.

For a scant 90 minutes, Carey treated the fans to a slickly rehearsed, loosely choreographed musical fantasy into her glittery life, parading nearly as many expensive evening gowns and sexy outfits as there were songs, mostly taken from her last album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel with a few classics thrown in.

Backed by a five-piece band and with 10 dancers providing a little boogie, a hoarse Carey opened with Shake It Off, Touch My Body and Fly Like a Bird while posing like a contestant in a beauty pageant at centre stage.

Later, she blamed being late on a cold that one of the 10 dancers she’s touring with gave her. So it wasn’t her fault.

Hand that girl an Academy Award nomination for best dramatic performance by a diva.

I mean, c’mon, who else but Carey would bring her own makeup artist onstage for a quick touch-up, or performing Always Be My Baby from a white chaise-lounge and drinking from a fluted glass?

From that point on, Carey seemed to loose interest in the show, spending half her time backstage and leaving her backup crew to cover yet another costume change with an able cover of Michael Jackson’s Rock With You before la Carey re-emerged to channel Diana Ross on Ain’t No Mountain/Love Hangover in an inaudible whisper.

By now, the novelty was wearing about as thin as Carey’s pablum pop, including Obsessed and Emotions, tunes as girly as gigs get. Like watching a Say Yes To The Dress marathon. I wasn’t that disappointed when Carey seemed suddenly in a hurry to quit the show.

Mariah Carey at Bell Center: A Barbie Girl in a Barbie World
It was like if you were at the kingdom of Disney ... or inside the bag of Barbie.  Mariah Carey, high perched on a swing, dressed as the princess in the animated version of Beauty and the Beast, awaited on the ground by four dancers in tuxedo. Everything, on music worthy of a jewelry box. The scene was so kitsch that we didn't know if we should laugh or cry.

This feeling has lived in us during a big part of the evening, when the American singer came to the Bell Center.   For nearly two hours, Miss Carey served her pop-RnB in such a sweet package  that sometimes we had the impression that the theater was transformed in a dollhouse.

So much strass
It's with Shake it Off, Touch My Body and especially her pair of heels that Mimi began the concert. Needing help from a dancer to make two steps on the right and 3 steps on the left, the singer seemed suffocating in her golden corset.  The fans didn't seem to care, applauding a lot as soon as she raised her beautiful voice.

This is without a doubt, the biggest tragedy of the whole situation.  A star of the caliber of Mariah Carey (who, let's remember, has sold more than 175 million albums worldwide) deserves better than a cardboard scenery, an uninspired staging and a choreography worthy of a bad jazz ballet show.
Unlike most of her throne pretenders, the beauty has talent.  There's no single doubt about the strongness of her vocal chords and the little shrill screams that she likes to push here and there, are still there.

All that is missing is someone who will have the guts to tell her that all that strass and glitters does more harm to her than anything else.  Forget brushing, manicure and plunging cleavage Mariah.  Next time, come over with a few musicians, a stool and a mic.  Simplicity has often better taste.

Mariah Carey at Bell center : the nice diva
The pop/RnB singer Mariah Carey visited Montréal Thurday night only for the second time in her career. 7.000 Montréal fans were there to show their support.

The evening seemed to start really bad.  An insipid open act, three guys who rapped stupid non sense and then a very long wait.  The diva made her fans wait for 75 minutes and fans loudly expressed their impatience.

Carey finally came on stage past 9:30 pm.  Sitting on a swing, they lowered her to take place at the center of the stage decorated like a Barbie doll house.  After some necessary vocalizing, she started the catchy Shake It Off that delighted the fans.  She then sang Touch My Body and Fly Like A Bird to the applause of the fans.

And suddenly, the mood changed completely.  The voice is in shape (and what a shape), the singer interacted with the crowd, sincerely apologizing for being late.  "Last night, I had to record a video for Simon Cowell' song to raise funds for Haiti.  I went to bed in the wee hours and struggled out of bed today..."

There was such an innocence, such generosity in that natural way to chatting with fans, that we forgave her everything: the delay, lack of energy, even the kitsh side of the whole thing, her too tight sequined dresses, the cold keyboards arrangements, the ugly scenery.  We were there to see if she was still coherent and relevant, to see if she was still able to sing like she used to, to see if she would offer a true performance with many hits.   In fact, we stayed 'cause the diva is really nice and warm.

And the voice?  Fortunately, the voice is there.  Mariah Carey is not a stage animal (note: that sounds weird in English ), she even moves badly, thank god her dancers can dance.  When she opens her mouth, it's to remind us why she became the great pop star she was/is.  The warm voice, on tune, not too loud, still good in her famous high notes.

Of the fifteen songs, one unpublished and a remixed one to appear on Angels Advocate, a robust cover of Diana Ross' "Love Hangover" and her own hits, Angels Cry, Always Be My Baby, Honey, Obsessed, We Belong Together and a syrupy version of Hero for the encore.

Entertaining.  Far from being a great performance, but everyone will have the memory of a pleasant evening.

Mariah mentions in Nick's interview with Entertainment Weekly
Adding to his public profile, of course, is his marriage to Mariah Carey, whom Cannon calls an "angel".  Says Carey, "He is probably the only person I know that matches me in drive and ambition."

For years, Cannon would tell any interviewer who asked that his celebrity crush was Mariah Carey (consider this yet another example of speaking something into existence); he even presuaded Nickelodeon to arrange for him to present an award to the multi-platinum singer at the Teen Choice Awards in 2005.  Then came a business meeting in 2008 at the Beverly Hills hotel.  "I put on my good cologne," says Cannon, who had been approached by Carey about directing her new video.  "Did some push-ups.  Tried to get my grown-man look on."  The ice breaker came when Cannon said a prayer before the duo induldged in a plate of french fries, leading to some good-natured teasing from Carey and a discussion of spirituality.  "You never know who's sincere and who's not, and he probably thought the same about me," says Carey.  "We both pretty much proved it right there because I had my little electronic Bible in my bag."  Adds Cannon, "From that day on, we were inseparable."
After a few weeks of dating, the pair married in April 2008 at Carey's home in the Bahamas, shocking pretty much every one (sample head-line: "Mariah & Nick Wedding Reports: Real Love or Real Stunt?").  "There were people who were for it and there were more people who were against," says Cannon, who's sports a 17-carat diamond wedding band designed by Carey.  "You have to ask the question: Is your heart more important than your career?  Absolutely.  I was like, if I don't do anything else ever again in the entertainment industry, I'm in love with this woman."  Carey, on the other hand has no tolerance for the public scrutiny: "I'm not gonna walk down the street and go, 'Who the hell are those too to be married?' "

On the home front, Cannon's five-year plan includes some "little Cannons," but both he and Carey know raising kids in the celebrity spotlight will be a challenge: "As much as there are private jets and champagne everywhere, I want them to understand that's not what's life is about." The Hollywood clan he'd like to emulate most may surprise you (or not, considering he used to date tabloid cover girl Kim): "I always admired the Kardashian family.  They're a family that really loves each other: or even the Osbournes."  As far as business goes, Cannon has typically lofty goals, but he's of course optimistic about the future: "I wanna be a billionaire in five years.  It can happen.  I'm speaking it into existance!"

Life with Nick & Mariah
You know you've wondered about it.  Here, a glimpse into their odd-couple marriage.
On laughing together
Nick: "I'm here to make people smile, my wife first and foremost.  You've seen that smile!"
Mariah: "Sometimes he thinks he's making me smile, but really he's making me mad." (laughs)

On a typical night at home
Mariah: "That's private!"
Nick: "We'd be watching, like, Nurse Jackie. Or an old DVD, Trading Places or something like that.  That's one of our favorite movies."
Mariah: "We do.  But I like Nurse Jackie more than him."

On Mariah's pet peeves
Nick: "She hates when I'm messy when it has to do with her nice stuff.  Like, I can't throw my jacket on the Marilyn Monroe piano, but I do.  She hates that I wear suits.  She likes me in, like, Timberlands with the fitted cap and t-shirts."
Mariah: (laughs) "Yes.  It's not that I don't like him when he wears suits, but I just like the casual attire.  But I also like him when he wears tuxedos."

On taking care of each other
Nick: "She's been so wonderful and so amazing to so many people on this earth, and I don't feel like she's ever gotten that love back that she's put out there.  If there's one thing I'm supposed to do on this planet, I'm supposed to treat this person the best I can possibly treat them."
Mariah: "He brought me home a big basket yesterday of candy.  I'm not really a big candy person, but there were other things in there that I liked." (laughs)

Mariah inspires Mary J. Blige
Mary J. Blige has no plans to ever leave the music business, but she tells The BoomBox there's another profession she wouldn't mind trying on as a full-time vocation.
"To look at Mariah [Carey] and see what she did with that film, it's like, wow! She really did it because she went past the Mariah we all know -- with the hair and beautiful face. All of that Mariah stuff, it wasn't there. She got rid of herself! Wow, incredible. I know acting is something that I need to do. I don't care how old I get, I'm going to continue to pursue it because there's something in me that I've gotta get out! It needs to come out on screen. Everybody needs to see it coming out in another person, you know what I mean?

Earring malfunction at the Tower Theatre
Mariah Carey had an earring malfunction before Monday's show at the Tower Theater, and her assistant reached out to the Four Seasons Hotel's concierge desk for help. Jeweler Jeff Kellmer was summoned and took the earring and its mate to his shop, where he fixed the hinge with a laser and performed some rhodium plating to make them sparkle again. When he returned with the earrings, he lent Carey's stylist and personal assistant a pair of pavé earrings and diamond bracelet from his inventory. Carey mixed and matched during the show's costume changes; she wore the repaired earrings as well as Kellmer's loaner. Kellmer kept an eye on the baubles from his newly acquired front-row seat.

Nick Cannon Says Mariah "Hates" It When He Is Messy
Nick married Mariah in April 2008 and admits he struggles to cope with the strict rules imposed by his wife. Mariah keeps her home spotlessly clean, but Nick is more relaxed when it comes to housekeeping.

“She hates when I'm messy when it has to do with her nice stuff. Like, I can't throw my jacket on the Marilyn Monroe piano - but I do,” he said. (eeeek )

Nick also revealed how he impressed Mariah on their first meeting. The TV presenter made sure he was smelling good and did a quick work out to ensure he was in top condition. “I wore my good cologne. Did some push-ups. Tried to get my grown-man look on,” he added to America’s Entertainment Weekly magazine.

They can't let it go huh
I hesitated to post this, but after all a fan site is like a marriage, it's for the best and the worst (dunno if it makes sense in English)
The Razzie Awards did it again, not only thanks to them (and a lot of American people who didn't even saw the movie), the entire world made fun and still does of Mariah in Glitter.  Bad producer, bad publicity, September 11, breakdown....  all this contributed to make fun of a person.  As always, it's only happening to Mariah, nobody makes fun during so many years of all the other actors/actresses nominated or winners of a Razzy Award.  They now found a new award, the Berry Worst of the decade, of course Mariah is nominated for her part in Glitter, but the competition will be really hard as Mariah has only 1 Razzy while J-Lo was nominated for 9 "achievements" and won 2 Razzies, and Madonna was nominated for 6 "achievements" and won 4 Razzies.  Go J-Lo, go Madonna!!!!

Oh, well, it's not that dramatic, remember how Halle Berry picked up her Razzy Award

Courtney Love and Mariah Carey Almost Collaborated on 'Nobody's Daughter'
In the chorus of 'Samantha,' the rocking first single off Hole's forthcoming 'Nobody's Daughter' album, the refrain goes "People like you f--- people like me." After writing the track, Courtney Love invited a few of her rocker friends, including Billy Corgan and Gerard Way, who unfortunately didn't check his voice mail, to "come scream-sing," as Love puts it. While her rocker friends didn't work out, Love found a willing participant when she went to see film director Brett Ratner.

"I'm at his house and I sing the part, 'People like you f--- people like me,'" Love tells Spinner. "And this little voice goes, 'I'll sing it.' I'm like, 'Who's that?' The voice goes, 'It's Mariah.'" As in, Mariah Carey.

Love says the encounter was as fun as fans might imagine. "Mariah's got a vocal coach with her, she's an industry unto herself, and we sat on Brett's couch and we watched on a screen these size five Mariah Carey videos he made," she says. "And it was hysterical. I never met Mariah for more than a minute in my life, but we sort of canceled each other out. We had nothing negative about each other to say. I'm not in her universe and she's not in mine."

While the two got along fine, there were some moments where their personalities clashed. "When you go to Brett's house you always have to take a picture in the photo strip booth. She sat down next to me and she moved me over," Love says, laughing. "This has never happened in my entire life. There are a lot of alpha males, but there aren't a lot of alpha females and this woman, I'm not in one picture. She's like totally Diana Ross-ing me and Ratner's like, 'Mariah, move the f--- over so Courtney can be in the picture.'"

Ultimately, Carey never actually recorded her vocal part. "I play the rough [cut] and she sings it," Love says of that evening. "I wish to god that there had been a person with a recorder in the room." That makes two of us.

Up Out My Face: Barbz and Kenz are in!!!!!
Nicki Minaj's fans (the barbz and the kenz) are not really pleased that in the video Mariah takes ideas and manners from Nicki.  The doll box (Nicki used the concept for Playtime Is Over), the chewing gum scene (classic Nicki Minaj attitude, done and done again), ponytails, and so on, but at least they don't hate, they know Mariah and Nicki will both benefit from the support.

With the help of the Barbz and Kenz it can really make a difference in the US!!!!!  Go bitches (Nictionary)!!!!!
